Jayco poor warranty on new van

Picked up my new Jayco off road journey 3 weeks ago from St Marys Jayco dealer in Sydney, I towed it about 30 klms to my home and parked it in my backyard. The last 3 weeks my wife and I played with it as you do when I noticed that one of the four tyres looked a bit flat, it was, 15 psi, others 50 psi, spare 45 psi, so I looked closer at all things, one wheel nut only finger tight, one gas bottle almost empty, so I rang them and they were sorry for the problems and said bring it back and we will fix the problems or bring it back for the 3 months service, what I said and pay over $400 dollars then I was told if I don't bring it back for service I will void my warranty, I explained that it won't be used for the next 4 months as we will be overseas and it would be silly to pay $400 plus when the van would of travelled only 60klms. Am I being difficult ? I hope not, the next service will be $500 plus, none of this was ever explained to me until I picked the van up. This is our 3rd Jayco and our last one the service was free, only 3 years old. I am very good with mechanical things so see you later Jayco you have lost me, I can adjust electric drum brakes, grease the JTECH swinging arms, inspect gas fittings etc etc etc.

So buyer beware, the pick up price dose not stop there. Do other manufactures do the same?.

Be careful, drive safe,

Sharon and Gavin.

Its in your 1st line.
You picked up van from Jayco dealer !
Dont blame the manufacturer for dealer's short comings!
Yes its the dealers fault, there is supposed to be a pre delivery for every van at every dealers yard, to ensure things like this are checked,
but its not a perfect world is it.
make arrangements with the dealer, talk to management, tell them what you have stated here,
most reputable dealers will solve matter quickly for you,
then get in your van and enjoy it,
happy vanning,
George

X2  Go back to the dealer and if no go contact Jayco head office and tell them of your problem and what you were told.

I personally have found Jayco dealers were very good with warranty.

Hello gavanator, firstly, a very warm welcome. Went to the jayco factory a few mths. Ago n was very impressed. Agree with the first poster. If no satisfaction there, then ring jayco melbourne n c what they can do. Good luck.

If the dealer can't get it right the first time I usually never go back as they probably won't get it right the second time, being mechanically minded and with some CDF I've never worried about warranty stuff and have been trouble free with cars and vans for over 35 yrs or more, going by my friends the warranty servicing seems to attract problems.

In my working time I did find it was wise to check all wheels nuts after getting the truck serviced by workshop, sometimes someone forgets to do all the nuts up.

Dear Sharon & Gavin

Sorry about your new Van. The folks at St Marys Don't give a Sh..t about You or anyone else.

You see the have  the population of SYDNEY all to themselves you see.

Did they tell you that for free, when you signed on the dotted line.

They only take in 7 Vans a day, which includes dispatch of new vans, vans in for service, Plus wait for it, Vans for Warranty Service. AS PER THEIR EMAIL TO US.

If you require Warranty Service they are VERY VERY BUSY YOU SEE. As they service greater SYDNEY.

DID THEY TELL YOU THAT WHEN YOU SIGNED UP.nonononono Sydney has a population of 5 MILLON.

If you require service under statutory law, fit for the purpose. Send them a Solicitors letter, or Wait up to 4 months for Warranty service. As Per their response to us Via Email.

Its all about profit first. The cost to expand in Sydneynononono ..................Profits first smilesmilesmilesmilesmile.

We had to take the legal road at our cost. Then, and only then could they  fit us in, 7 days thereafter.wink

We too needed to have the first 3 month service or else.

Our van had travelled 40km and they wanted $460 to do what may you ask.confuseconfuseconfuse       PS: GO JUMP...............!

We have NEVER  NEVER had any further follow up since that day. Words speak............ What words.

Welcome to the forum Gavanator, and thanks for letting us know to ask about warranty and servicing prices, before we purchase from that particular agent

Hello heyjim, i did not know the first service was $460. How many compulsory services must u pay for to keep the warranty? Can another dealership do the service But not a jayco dealership. Another reason for us not to buy new.

Hi Rocket,

Life is a learning curve. We all learn by our mistakes. Inexperience cost us in this instance.

TRUST NOT. Do not ever take ones word for granted ( Except your sole mate.)

1st.First ask your dealer.

2nd. Get ALL ( TOTAL) Cross your T's and Dot your i's, the same. Emailed to you, and back it up on your hard drive.

3. Take your time, and NERVER let them push you to sign. If they get in your face. Do This and do it well. YELL LIKE HELL It gets the attention of other buyers, They don't like it one bit.

And they then get the message BACK OFF>.

4. Get it sent to you in an EMAIL. If they leave out what you want in the email or refuse to comply. WALK AWAY.WALK AWAY. Its your hard earned $$$$$$

And they want it real bad.

5.Dealers are there to EARN a living like everyone else.

Van dealers are no different to Car dealers.

Which one would you TRUST.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Warm Regards

JIM & LAMBIE
