Excellent! More rules and regulations. We could certainly do with a few more.

Just wish all these rules were consistent across state borders. It's 25kph for flashing lights in SA, 40kph in Vic and no idea in other states. Unfortunately ignorance is no defence.

Now you can at a cash scene legally rubber neck.

Myself have always practised  backing off my road speed at flashing lights ontop of vehicles on the side of the road, blast I was never in that big a hurry not to slow down going pass people working, police, ambos or road maintance crews or broken down vehicles and moved to the right if it was safe.

A lot of Victorians are flat out getting close to " Posted Roadwork Speed Limit Signs", they scream up behind and then pass with filthy looks. How will we be able to trust them to obey this one. Hume Hwy and Western Ring Road are classic examples. See how much Mad dan makes in speeding fines already. Might be good intentions, but also check out how many people are run into when broken down/parked in emergency lanes already.

Forget Mad Dan, Jay Wetherornot has just jacked up speeding fines, rego, licence fees etc this budget all starting 1 Jul.

Still has the "there is no such thing as a quota" with the police and fines to prop up the police depts budget.

You beet me to it Rusty. I was just about to post the same link. I think we will be seeing a lot more of this sort of thing and many will be multi car accidents. In my opinion this law will take more lives than it saves.

It was not the new regulation that caused the crash. It was inattentive driving on the part of the truck driver. There were drivers slowing in situations like that before the legislation was introduced and following drivers were not permitted to shunt slowing vehicles during that time as well.

Blaming the new regulation for that incident is utter stupidity.

And there must be new rules in Qld too -

1. Gas decommissioning certificates, so my Diesel-Gas man told me. He only found out via customers who were changing cars after visiting the Dept of Transport!

2. GVM increases!! Will know more about the latter on Wednesday when a friend puts his car in. Apparently the rule that an engineer told me on Thursday no longer applies!

And who gets told about these changes? Most are made by desk jockeys (who have no idea of what goes on outside their building) in Government buildings - heard they drive the inspectors on the road crazy!
