Beware - the mangle has returned.

I thought I'd seen just about everything do the full circle but now I see some grey nomads selling mangles AKA wringers on Ebay.   Many on this forum will remember the fear of feeding not just the wet clothes but your fingers through that arm- eating machine.

Anyway, they don't seem like a bad idea!  Link attached and I have no association etc.

Good Luck.

Yep.

And the old Stainless "Single Tub" washer drums.

Were the BEST. Berley buckets, out in the boat,
After you stripped them.

That and a length of 2-3in Heavy wall sewer pipe
with one end hack sawed into Shark tooth Profile
For mashing the old fish and bits.

Then 6 or 8in sewer pipe. later on in life.
with 4in for berley bombs. Coupla 2 oz sinkers in bottom of.
Still got some out in shed.

Memoriessssssss.

biggrin Ha, we used Hoover twin tub spin-driers for that Macka. Made some of the holes bigger for better flow. Local washer mechanics in the West were making a killing on those with boaties for a while, until we realized that plastic stormwater pipe (circle of nylon kitchen cutting board in bottom to protect base-cap), was quieter when you mashed. We used a bit of broom handle with ally tube cut saw tooth at bottom as a masher. Still do.  But, er..   off topic I guess.wink

Those wringers must be a bit bulky..

At first I thought 'Struth' Alvie Mangel' had made a return but read further.

I can smell the wet water smell even now, um, maybe that should be wet cloths smell.

Beware - the mangle has returned.

They never went away. The subject has come up every year or three and someone has always managed to produce several suppliers of them.

Laundry Wringers new and second hand.

Who woulda thought it! Good idea, I often put things like towels around the bull bar and twist them, gets a lot of water out.
