What I can't believe you have been on this forum since 2011 and you ask this question . Your will be told buy a camps book and get the app wiki camps . Nobody can tell in in advance where to camp because how do we know where you will be at anytime .
Sorry for the question, we have had a sick daughter and could not travel, and if you are interested , we buried her not long ago and was looking to be able to have a cheap trip, sorry if my question offended you.
Thank you for your helpful response , we are heading to Qld, going to Maitland to see a friend , then thought we would choose routes where there were free camping.
Hi Wandering Whitfields, Just saw your post. We do use our Camps 8 book to find rest areas/free camps. The new Camps 9 version was released in February though and will be more up to date. We liked the low cost camp at Cranky Rock outside of Warialda. Nice spot. Picnic tables, BBQs if I remember correctly, and a nice walk over the suspension bridge into the reserve. There was hot showers and electricity in the disabled facility which most used as it was the only shower. (has been a couple years since we were there though) There are other free camps in this area also. A popular free camp is outside Texas on th Qld/NSW border. We've stayed here a few times. No facilities but there are free showers and toilets in town. Nice free camp at Inglewood. The one at Leyburn had mowed grass and plenty of space when we checked it out. Cecil Plains free camp by the river is also popular, Bowenville Reserve is nice too. Chinchilla Weir - water in the river and if your lucky some power. Kilcoy has free showers. We have stayed at both Chinchilla Weir and Kilcoy. A favourite of ours if wanting to go to the Sunshine Coast hinterland is Little Yabba picnic area between Maleny and Kenilworth. Grass has always been mowed, drop toilet, bush walk with good track across the river. Gympie - have stayed at both free camps. Chain Ponds north of Taroom is good too - no facilities. We have not done the coastal route of Queensland, but more of the further inlands roads. I couldn't say there were any camps we wouldn't stay in again and we take pot luck as most places/camps we have never stayed at before. If free camping at Emerald we were told to not park under the railway bridge for too long after sunrise as a cattle train goes through. It will be cold in these areas in July but then again Maitland gets pretty cold too. Enjoy your travels. There is a lot of pretty countryside to be seen. Cheers.

lots of free or low cost camps if you head inland - not much along the coast - most of the main highways have overnight stopping places only ok if travelling through. Many small country towns welcome grey nomads and you can get a shower at larger servos when you are travelling.

such an answer to such a simple question. However, My advice to you is; 1. Better manners. 2. If you are unable to give advice without
a boot up the bum, perhaps it's time you retired. 3. You need to understand that there are plenty of people like Daryl who no matter which
way you cut it are stuck with the feeling that they could do with a bit of a leg up. Even answers to simple questions can help lots of people. 4. And here's a final bit of advice
spend a bit more time reading a post before letting rip. Or perhaps you didn't really mean to sound like that. Anyway, a "PM" to would be an entirely
acceptable solution.
