Near miss

Driving up the newell yesterday between goondi and Toowoomba , I was sitting on 90k , when I see a truck approach I keep and eye on them as soon as I see them pull out , wait till they are right out and then take my foot off the pedal . I seen a semi behind me , with a low loader empty . he came up behind me and I thought he was staying put as it was slightly down hill and across a water culvert with barriers each side ( no verge) , I looked in my mirror and he is coming alongside of me. He would have overtaken me on the culvert . I had to brake quite firmly to pull back . I wish I had a cam on the dash to record the idiot , I didn't get the number at all . I know its stupidity but is it illegal as there was not any signage to say no overtaking .

Browns the jocks hey.

When you look at even a cheap car. New or second hands Pricing

Against the price of a good quality Rev Camera.
It really IS a silly idea NOT to have one installed.

We have one in each car. $210 each. and worth every cent.
They start at around $85 I believe,
ours have been there 5 or 6 yrs or more.

It gives you speed. view ahead. your voices. What others are doing.
Lat\Long. What road and name of and at what time. (GPS Built in)

You can turn DOWN volume, As mates missus said.
"I don't want what I say to him recorded thank you". Hmmmm.

Just remember.
IF you wrong. "Sorry it not working".

I reckon they should be Compulsory part of road regulations.

Yeh, we know how you must have felt. We had a ''check your undies for stains experience'' last week heading north from Bourke.

Saw a car approaching, heading towards us a fair way off but not far enough for us to be overtaken. We were doing 90kph+

A road train with huge cotton bale rolls pulls out & starts overtaking us. I take my foot off the accelerator straight away.

He gets halfway past us & looking down beside us at his indicators on the mudflaps of his truck he's indicating that he's going left to pull back onto our side.

I hit the brakes, he just clears us, moves back in & the oncoming car zooms past. Whew!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So close to being run off the road with nowhere to go.

If there was 2 marked lanes there would have been enough room for both of you.

I realise that's probably the case digger but when you have a 23' van bouncing around on a rough rd surface and maybe a foot either side of you with a 20 tonne truck doing 90 - 100k  alongside and probably moving around a bit it self , It's a recipe for disaster , Especially with the buffer and vortex  from the truck pushing us around to boot. Whatever you say it's a stupid thing to have done with miles of road ahead to overtake on .
