Have posted this screen shot of an app that I think is necessary for all - having just read about an SOS sign from stones, spotted by a helicopter in remote WA, I thought I would put this up on it's own post. Easy to install - uses gps technology - great app - AND FREE!!!

Just search for Emergency + - simple as that, developed by an ambo in Sydney.

That's a great idea Jules,  Thanks for bringing it to the notice of everyone, anything that will assist people get out of trouble in the Bush, just has to be good.

I haven't been into it and studied this App real close as yet but, I will be looking very soon and downloading it, just in case.

There is still no word on that SOS sign found in the W.A. outback, It may have been there for a long time, or possibly the work of idiots on the grog, just doing things to worry the Authorities,

K.J.

Thanks Jules, we have had it on our phone for a while now, but remember all, it is only as good as your signal. No signal, no phone call.....

Down loaded an emergency app a while back and it appeared to be a constant drain on the battery, may not have been the same app.
I think the one I installed was always updating my location via GPS so drained the battery very quickly
Cheers

In a similar vein this may be of interest too - allows you to dial emergency contacts using a locked phone.

Most of these APPS would only work if you could pick up a phone signal .

I'm happy with it. I'm looking at the Optus iPhone attachment that apparently turns your mobile into a sat phone.

Bryan.

Now that would "probably" get a few of us Android users
to look at the dreaded Apple thing. Maybe,

Second Hand old apple with that app for bush work hey.

Macca, at the rate mobile phones are developing, it won't be long until they have sat phone capabilities.

 Hi Doug,

Careful using the word ĎCE", as your daughters may get an unexpected knock on the front door.  Just kidding mate. But one never knows.

Hope you are enjoying the warmer weather in Townsville.

Go the mighty Maroons tomorrow night , boy I wish J.T. was playing.

Just phone numbers are listed, mate. Both in the App and Contacts.

Edit.....Sorry forgot to say. Great weather here in the tropics. I hope QLD can keep the record in tact. JT just signed up for another season with the Cowboys. BUT go STORM then the Cowboys. QLD during State stuff.

We looked at that sleeve thing Bryan, it looks good but dont want to bash my iphone around in the Toyota doing bore runs so are going for a sat phone which hopefully can handle it.

Hey.
There have been Mobile\Sat Phones on market for yrs.

Normally work on Mobile freq. Then change over to Sat when not available.
The best ones only charged mobile rates too.

Regarding Footie.

The Blues are going for bulk, players this time round by looks of it..

Personally. as long as they have a good game. Couldn't really care (almost) who wins.

As long as we WIN the first game, just to show them. the rest are fair game.

We have to let them win some "sometimes" Or they'll lose interest.
One season won't hurt. every 11 yrs or so.

A lot of their players had\have played their whole lives and never been in a winning game.
Must hurt hey Chuckle.

And look at those blue shirt Sharks with the win last yr.
All jumping round like little 12 yr old schoolkids.

First time they'd EVER won anything. Mrs Gallen was CRYING..... Poor diddums.
I almost felt sorry for him....

When you figure the amount of people they have to pick from in that State, Compared to us.
You'd think they'd thrash us every season, wouldn't you.

THEN. YOU Realise.

QUEENSLAND........... A man doesn't NEED another reason does he.

Proven the best. Over, and Over, and Over, and Over, and Over.

Was that ten times, or eleven .
Whoops Dinner time.
