Prices.

The gas struts on the front boot have got weak over the last yr. So coming  into Perth yesterday seen the RV Superstore and called in. They only had one @ $42 , so didn't bother. Back in van last night tried Ebay, and got 2 for $28. I must learn to use Evil Bay a lot more, just a bit awkward when on the road. Calling in to stay with Sue and Phil at Seabird, so will get it sent there.

G'day MrK & MrsK.

Hope you are both well? Take care over there in the 'Wild West'.

Yes evilbay can be good but I also use fleabay. I check if the seller uses Aussie Post to deliver and if so get sent to a Post Office I know I can pick up from. I also put in 'notes'  "PLEASE HOLD FOR PICK UP".

Mate had two on his camper trailer. Needed either to replace or regas. He went to the local repair/regas guy and he wanted more to refurbish than two brand new from the local 4x4 store. He too went to EvilBay and bought from Melbourne and paid ten bucks for Express Post .

We can all moan about Evilbay but some traders need to look at their pricing if they want to compete in todays marketplace.

I received a safety recall notice from Mitsubishi for my Pajero Sports last week so they can replace the gas struts on the rear tail gate - apparently the protective coating on the end caps is not very good and could lead to corrosion and failure. I know that the vehicle manufacturers will normally err on the side of caution with these things but it does show that quality can be important especially if it's related to safety.

Yeh the bonnet truts for my Falcon sedan cost $45 each at Repco, and I bought them because it was the same price at Auto One. I have been using E-mail since it started almost, I must get my act together.

G-Day B & L hope WA is treating you both well I replaced the bonnet ones on my patrol about a year ago at a farm aftermarket place can't remember how much but was happy with the price, sure was better than having the bonnet smacking me on the back of the head, don't ask how I know this ! ( be nice here Doug ) it's bloody hot over here in the Plilippines 43 yesty and humid , looking at the weather back home and rain n lots of it (30-40 ml ) expected as we get back home, just when it was drying out again in time to finish sowing, oh well better muddy than dusty.

I say Belmont bear are you implying that Mitsubishi got their gas struts from evil bay ? Lol

Woody n sue

Hi Mr Chief, Yes we are both well thanks, getting a bit cool over here at nights though.

Woody, you farmers are never B well satisfied are you. There you are living it up in the tropics, with most of your crops in the ground, you should be rejoicing the rain. We are all the same aren't we mate.smilesmilebiggrin

When I started looking for the struts I spent about an hour looking for the right one, and then tried entering the specs I wanted. Bingo up it came,Dummycrycrycry

Fringe Dweller, the struts come with 2yr warrant
.

The struts that I bought on Ebay were the same brand as originally fitted to my Van and the originals lasted about 12 years. The price was about a third of the price you would pay from a caravan spares place. So when looking for spare parts for van or car, Ebay is the first place I look.
Cheers
David

Don't know where Mitsubishi get their struts from Woody probably from some parts manufacture in Thailand (where the cars are built) but they are definately not going to risk someone being injured due to them having used suspect quality parts. I don't really have an opinion one way or the other on Ebay as I have never bought anything from it.
