I was going to buy one two weeks ago. None are in stock at the moment. The guy at Satplus was not overly selling it even when I said I was prepared to wait. He said the only advantage of the unit was the space saving in fold up mode and that it was less suseptable to dints and damage if it fell over. Given the high price difference I ended up buying the Maxview one with the built in satfinder and the wind up adjustments. Just means when travelling, it will have to live on the bed.

G'day,

We have had one for the past 4 yrs and take our Foxtel box with us.

We travel all over Australia, including many remote spots when prospecting.

We have got signal from Tassie to Cape York, from Lucky Bay to Kalumburu and all places in between.

As with all sat dishes, you will struggle to get signal in heavily treed areas.

When having the previous solid dish, we would sometimes struggle to get the signal up over the 60% mark (it would still work) but now easily obtain signal over 90%. These %'s are as shown on the Foxtel box, not the sat meter.

The digital sat meter that John at Sat Plus supplies, together with the Wiki satellite finder, makes finding a signal very easy.

The fold up dish is also much easier to carry and store in the c'van and no more scratches on the interior timberwork when carrying it in the c'van.

As the frame is stainless steel, there is also no rust.

Ours is one of the original ones that has the semi circle base and dish & base all folds up into one easy to carry piece.

If you get one, make sure you get John to make it a twin LNB type (normally no extra charge) to allow you to watch and record at the same time. Required for Foxtel but not sure about VAST as we don't have it.

A great bit of gear.

Regards,

Ian

I'Ve got one too and agree that they are great, yes expensive but they suit my needs and fit the bill to perfection and finding the satellite is a breeze.

I have the satplus folding dish set up and although expensive its a great quality unit and well worth the outlay. Very good and stable tripod and the sat finder is pretty well idiot proof. Much a case of you get what you pay for in my view

Hi Gareth

well worth the money. we have an Optima 75 folding dish  v.g. quality and have just returned from 3 mths all over WA then up to Gold Coast  all good everywhere except Coral Bay[ no matter what I tried]. Meter and wiki makes it easy.
