USER NAME & PASSWORD

I have been using google as my provider and had a short cut to this forum on the toolbar on my laptop however, I have now changed to google chrome and I have lost my shortcut in the process needless to say I have forgotten my password and only think I know my username. Is there a way to retrieve these if so could someone tell me how?                        Regards Tony

You signed in.
If you go to your name it should? open for edit or give acess to.

I use Grandsons Name with a Cap in there and one letter changed.
with B\Day on end. As password for everything.

Email and others. are name of second last yacht and my B'Day
with numbers reversed. Simple Long and easy to remember..

With MY lack of memory.
Like my UK army number, I need something I know backwards.
All 8 digits.
And I came out of there in '63.

Hello Tony

brickies has given you some good advice
The best thing to do is PM Cindy

Also if you open a page where you are not signed in there is a place as per the GIF (snip) below, where you can ask for Lost Account Info

Capture.GIF

Also it appears that your Username, is the name you use as your handle on the forum

Hope that this info is helpful to you, and others in the future

I think your concern starts with changing from Google to Chrome

I presume you are aware that in Chrome you can click at the top right corner and follow link down to import from Google bookmarks

This should take you back to all bookmarks as if you were still using Google

Or

Sometimes opening a previous page from within Google will relocation you back in and show your log in and then change your password to something new

Hope this helps

Fred K

Google is an advertising company found at http:///www.google.com
They also make and give away free software (with inbuilt monitoring) such as the Chrome browser and the Android mobile operating system, as well as provide free "software as a service" apps via their site.

Most browsers will offer to remember usernames and passwords but only if the website you are visiting is coded corrected so that the browser can recognise a login box.
If you choose yes to the small pop-up notification this memory applies only to that particular browser on that particular device.

I will make some assumptions here, that you are using a computer rather than a phone or tablet, and that it is using Windows as the operating system.
I take it you were using another browser before you started using Chrome? Was this Internet Explorer or Firefox?
By installing another program that duplicates what is already built into Windows it has set itself as the "default" browser.

If my assumptions are correct, here is the solution that will enable what you want.

1. Determine what was the name of the browser you were using, eg., Internet Explorer.
2. 'Right Click' the start button (bottom left corner) and choose 'Control Panel'.
3. Choose to 'view by' the 'small icons' (top right hand corner)
4. Click the 'Default Programs' icon.
5. Click the blue link 'Set your default programs.
6. When the list shows up on the left, select your old browser from the list by clicking once on its name and then using the big blue link at the bottom click 'Set this program as default'.

Close any open windows.
Now when you double click that desktop shortcut it will open it your old browser and not in Chrome.

Now the next steps will be to recover/reset your Grey Nomads password etc.

Once you are logged into the Grey Nomads forum you will see your user name in the top right hand corner just underneath where it says "Logged in as".
Note this down.
Now click the heading just under the advertising called 'User Details'.
Now on the left under the heading called 'Profile' click the sub-heading called 'Edit Profile'.
Now you can change your email address if required and also the password to something you are likely to remember.
Note this down.

Now assuming you wish to use Chrome as your default browser, follow the steps 1 to 6 above and set Chrome as the default program.

Now when you get to the Grey Nomads site you will know what your Username and Password are and once logged in, say yes to the offer by Chrome to remember your login details.

NB. Only allow your browser to remember details for non-critical sites. Consider that anyone who got hold of your computing device could access these sites because the computer will fill out the login information for them.
