We are just finishing a house sit in the bush between Mackay and Prosopine, and got the unexpected Cyclone Debbie. Out there no phone, no power, no television and flooded roads and blocked roads with trees down. An experience we don't want again, but our car and van survived, so we were luckier than lots of others. Now in a week we are off north to the Daintree, I guess with lots of others. The Bruce Hwy has more vans on it every day. You can't keep a wonderful state down for long. Hope to meet a few of you along the road, we will free camp as much as possible. We have about 1 month to do 800ks so a few big breaks coming up. Not like our last trip from Darwin with 4 to 500 ks every day. This will be fun and to places we haven't been before.

Sounds like an experience added to your journey, Bru. Glad you made it out safe and without damage to the tug and den. I just got held up due to floods further south but got through and currently enjoying exploring the Sunshine Coast area's.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.

Glad that you survived the weather onslaught. Enjoy really seeing your surroundings by taking small steps, that's the way to go.

Driving hundreds of kms per day is not the way to go. You may have been through a location but you haven't really seen it.

We can't believe that we've booked a site in a caravan park up in QLD for Winter. We vowed never to join the Mexican Migration from Victoria.

We spent lots of time up there in the 70's & 80's when things were quiet. If it's too crowded it will be the one & only time!
