Hi, have also posted in techies corner. Our Nissan Civillian 1992 recently copped a fair bit of water under it in the recent NSW floods (to the step well). Next day tried to start it, it lurched forward and stalled, the gear seemed stuck and would not engage with motor going. Today same thing, although when restarted the gears arenow engaginging, have driven up and down and they are engaging but seem a bit tight and hard to get in..not crunching?Have checked the clutch fluid all ok?? any ideas what this could be?
Most likely the clutch seizing on the splines due to rust build up, it may free up on its own but otherwise will need a strip down and I would then fit a new clutch anyway or it would be false economy not to.
There used to be a little thing called a "jiggling Pin" at the bottom of old
bell housings to let out (Mainly,) oil that leaked from main seal
and any water that got in there on Deepwater crossings.
Maybe???? That hole is still there in that model, (never had one,)
Maybe That water was deep enuff,
it got in there and has swollen the plate linings????.
Torch and shufty hey. Can't hurt.
No Pin or slot. no looksie.
The organic clutch material can expand a little when it gets wet . A few hard take offs may cure your issues . I have similar in twin clutch plate performance car . After a few light take off with a little heat from friction it comes good .
