Cyclone Debbie

Cairns locals. We lived in our first van during quite a few cyclones, and each time needed to move onto a concrete slab to tie down. In the 70's. During 1 cyclone a family of deaf/mutes decided to leave our van park in Cairns and went up the Gillies Highway to escape to the Tablelands. They couldn't /didn't understand us as we gave advice. It was a tragic ending for them. Panic set in for too many people.Everyone needs to take local advice whenever and wherever. Don't be a know it all! Listen to all advice. Staying SAFE is the most important thing. So what if you a day or 2 late. Better late than never!
