We have just joined GN website and it was suggested we add the "suggestion/question" below to the Travelling with Pets Forum to see if someone has any recommendations??
We have a small dog and really considering taking her again. The only hiccup is that we cannot go to National Parks. I often wonder if some of the caravan parks or someone else has considered offering a dog minding service in areas close to the NPs. We have noticed how many fellow Nomads take their precious pets.
We are setting off late next month and will be travelling for 3 or 4 months with our dog and I am aware that we won't be able to go to National Parks. But it's the price that we pay for travelling with a dog and for me I prefer to take her with us rather than leave her behind. I was reading a travel journal online of a couple who were travelling with 2 Kelpies and they got friendly with another couple at a free campsite and they both looked after each others caravan for a day whilst they visited a Nat Park, but in their case they babysat their 2 dogs too. I thought what a great idea and I would certainly offer to babysit someone's dog if it fitted in with what we were doing. I also seem to recall that there is a caravan park that actually does offer dog sitting, but I can't remember which state it was in as we stay in WA and travel the north of this state so I dismissed it. So maybe keep that in mind that if you see someone else travelling with their pets you could offer to dog sit for them and they do the same for you.
Happy travels
Pauline
Thank you Pauline for your comments. I did also read that someone left their pets with a local vet. So maybe have to be a bit creative. We are like you and couldn't leave our little one at home so she is coming with us.. Happy travels Sheryl
We offer doggy daycare at our caravan park, and there are other parks also that offer doggy minding, also, some pet groomers will mind your dog. the pleasure of having your dog with you in my opinion far outweighs the things you may miss out on.

I only wish your positive attitude in operating a truly pet friendly caravan park was highly contagious. Keep up the great and much appreciated work.

Steve, Di & Ziggy We named our Motorhome "Roadworx" because on the road works "On The Road Again" Ford Transit with 302 Windsor V8 conversion, C4 Auto, 9 Inch Ford Diff All Lighting L.E.D., 260 Amp/h AGM, 530 Watt Solar + Kipor Backup Gen.
Perhaps dog minding details could be put in a sticky at the top of this section.
I can never find what I'm looking for when I get to an area and want to go somewhere I can't take Daisy.
What do you think Cindy???

Or a category of its own in the Recomendations section???

We simply don't go to NPs, if the dogs not good enough then neither are the NPs and their fees! Same with non dog friendly CPs. Whether we have our girl with us or not, if they won't take dogs, then we won't encourage them.

I'm planning a long trip for next year and am investigating kennels and vets in the areas I'm travelling to. Locals who travel without their dogs must leave them somewhere... but I haven't found too many kennels yet. Maybe I need to look harder.
