anyone know what condition the Savannah Way (Darwin to Cairns) MAYBE in during the month of May , I was thinking of travelling this way and will be towing 22 ft semi off road van with a modified Ford Ranger.
We have done that section on 2 occasions(most recent 2015) with a 18' Trakmaster, from memory I really don't think you would have too much to worry about. I cannot remember any crossings that gave us any problems at all, bearing in mind your van is a bit longer.. You may have to be a bit more carefull when making camp and pulling off road for the night, but again I think you will find suitable places to do so.
I am sure you will get more replies to make an informed decision, great trip, simply enjoy the ride
All depends on whether the road has been graded, and how much rain they have had. Too early and the corugations will shake you to death. Ring ahead and see.If you have high ground clearance helps. Bill
