Did you take an extra spare tyre for 4x4

Hi Everyone

I Trust that you are all enjoying your travels.

Quick question - did you take an additional spare tyre for your 4x4 when travelling.  We do have one and as we have not used it in several short trips (1 month each time) we are wondering do we need it as it is just extra weight to cart around, or should we sell.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts.

Depends on where you are going.

If heading to Cape York, Simpson Desert, Gibb River Road etc., yes I always have 2 spares.

Haven't needed them yet, but they're there.

If you are sticking to the black top or more populated areas it is not so important.

We carry one of these at all times, good insurance. www.tjm.com.au/en-oceania/product/tjm-tyre-repair-kit

If were planning more hard core stuff we carry two spares.

Much lighter option is to carry a spare tyre, not the complete wheel. Then you can put it inside the car and pack the inside with all of your goodies. Only extra weight is something to fit the tyre onto the required rim. Also as an option, have a look at the correct size tube as well. This can give extra travel so long as the tyre itself is not to damaged.

When we go bush. either touring or day trips, "playing".
There's a spare, plus Tyre, plus tube.

and 2 self inflating foam cans.

They'll Stuff up that tyre for use again. bUT will get you home in emergency.

Another thing which is sensible with tubeless.
Is your Compressor. (don't we all?)

Plus a coupla TUBELESS VALVES.
The next one that is ripped in half on a track, wont be the first.

Try to run same rims\tyres as your mates too.
Then you can help each other.

Certain ones ALWAYS seem to be susceptible to tyres etc.

Set up van with identical rims as the cruiser so have three spare tyres.
