I didn't take this picture but thought it was worth sharing.
Hope it brings tourists to Thallon Qld as it has to similar ones in Victoria.
Cheers, John
I think they are wonderful. Whenever I see an unpainted lot I wish for someone to come forward with idea to get it painted.
Not sure where Thallon is but go there to see this.
Will get to check out the Victorian ones in a few weeks. I think they are great and am sure the locals love the extra money being dropped in their towns. Will find out for sure soon.
Cheers, John.

As long as it art and not legalised graffiti as some of the garbage that has been allowed in Benalla. Also, the is the issue of maintaining the art work. As Benalla has an ongoing forum for this, they are now looking for walls, they do run out! I am not for this art movement because the councils cannot maintain the artworks and the artists appear to be in it for the name! Who, from overseas, is going to pay airfares to come back and touch up weather damage? Call me a cynic or whatever, I would rather see a good photo of a silo with a fair dinkum thunder storm coming in than a weather worn painting that needs touching up!
The artist who painted the Brim, Victoria silos is not from overseas but from Brisbane - see the ABC link in my previous post to this thread.
It's a good job they didn't take your view 500 years ago:
"OK, OK, Pope Julius - I know he gave you a very good price and I'm sure it will look great but who's going to maintain it when Michelangelo is back in Venice?".
And a very timely article on the BBC website covers the artist who painted them (Guido van Helten) and the silos at Brim - probably the only time this tiny Victorian town has received international attention?
