Sunday 12th February 2017 Catastrophic fire risk

If you are freecamping or travelling in NSW especially in the Blue Mountains or west of the mountains also the whole of the Hunter region, it may well be a very good decision to find a caravan park and stay put for the day especially if you have set up camp in the bush.

It is not only your life that you may save but also the firefighters who are fighting the 70 +fires already burning in NSW today and that was at 0900, with a CATASTROPHIC fire rating and total fire ban across all of NSW yours and our safety are critical, driving on country roads or bush areas is also not safe today, please think twice prior to travelling today and if you have to stay alert and look out for signs of fire.

Bush fire info app, "fires near me" or RFS website www.rfs.nsw.gov.au

Thanks Aussie Traveller...I may also remind folk that part of the Port Lincoln Caravan Park at North Shields was destroyed in their tragic Lower Eyre Peninsula 2005 bushfires which resulted in 9 loss of life....I was there at the time with similar adverse weather conditions....

'Away' from the fire areas is the only safe alternative as Aussie Traveller suggests...Hoo Roo

Keep safe out there everyone.

I was in the Ash Wednesday fires taking cover under a fire blanket and also the Black Saturday fires protecting my 'on site' van from flying embers. Not my idea of fun at all. Best get away early and keep away until safe to return.

Keep Safe on the roads and out there.
