Perth has recorded more than 106 millimetres of rain since 9:00am on Thursday - making it the second wettest February day on record.

The record was set on February 9, 1992 when the city recorded 120.6mm.

More than 9,000 homes throughout Perth and the South-West lost power overnight, although Western Power crews have restored electricity to about 3,000 properties since 4:00am.

Bureau of Meteorology duty forecaster Noel Puzey said most of the rain - more than 80mm- had fallen since 11:00pm on Thursday.

He said the rain would continue throughout the day, but it appeared the worst of the wild weather was over.

Heavy rain has caused widespread flooding.

Now they predict the temperature will reach 27 deg C today, and the humidity will go through the roof !!! 

"WE just can't win" , if it isn't, the heat, it's the Bushfires, now it's flooding,   What a Summer !!!!

In the ACT (the hottest forecast day this year) we have been asked to refrain from using power to avoid blackouts. The list of suggestions on how to do this is a bit over the top.
We are paying so much for electricity, and should have the best supply possible.

Just make sure the weather is good by the end of March, for our visit to WA. 

I don't want to get the car and boat dirty again, from road grime traveling across your vast State.biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

Hey Jim,

By March you should be o.k. that is if you stay on the tar,

but there is a heck of a lot of red carpet across this rather soaked State at the present time.

Bring your boat Jim, then you won't have to worry. biggrin

Hey KJim

I'm with Hey Jim x2 .....I think I carried half the Pilbara back in July [ took a month to detail the van n car] now if I hurry I can get a wash!!!!! .....we leave Feb25 for 8 weeks in SW Hyden round the coast to Esperance.

 Howdy end-on,  I wouldn't be in a great hurry to head South if I was you, at least check with Main Roads first,

there are many flooded roads / closed, and there are bound to be wash-outs hidden under the water.

I think most of the State has copped a drenching over the last week or so,

 So there could be many roads which will be impassable  for some time.

Roads have been closed including:

Great Southern Highway -   Katanning to Broomehill

Great Southern - Norseman to Esperance

Broomehill-Gnowangerup Road - Ongerup to Great Southern Highway

Chester Pass Road - Various locations north of Stirling Range National Park

Formby South Road

Gnowangerup Jerramungup Road - Broomehill to Jerramungup

South Coast Highway - Esperance to Ravensthorpe open with caution

 

Four wheel drive vehicles and trucks may proceed with caution.

We are currently camped down at Lake Brockman caravan park (Logue Brook Dam near Yarloop) for the weekend. Don't know how much rain we have had but it sure is wet!! Camped here with the elusive Wombat and his Lady Jen to help Spida celebrate her 70ieth birthday. WAS SUPPOSED TO A FINE SUMMER WEEKEND ,we were going to sit around under the trees and chat and eat and maybe have a birthday drink or three and generally have a relaxing time, have a swim, do a bit of fishing, fly the drone (Wombats new toy) and just do not much at all. A group of CMCA Solos have taken over the camp kitchen but we may just have to push in and take over a patch to get out of the rain!! Spida has family over from NZ and a few other nomads and friends popping in over the weekend so it should be great.
We were going to meander down to Esperance from here but have decided to leave it a couple weeks till the water has subsided. Will go down to Brunswick Junction and Capel then head home on the weekend.
It hasn't rained since mid morning and now it is bucketing down again!!

Daughter couldn't tell us how much rain we had at home as the rain gauge overflowed so over 4 inches.
