Sirocco fan wiring?

Hi Have looked in "Search" but just need to clear up a couple of things. Purchased a Sirocco 11 fan yesterday but the wiring is very thin. Someone mentioned they upgraded the wiring. If so to what size etc. And is it easier to buy a 12v plug including the wiring?

We have one of those fans the wiring is all good and you can put a cigar lighter plug on the end or wire it direct to 12 volt

I am with Dragonfly, Kim.

The wiring is fine, unless it is not long enough. The gauge of wire is not an issue though for the operation of the unit, so just get some similar gauge wire if you need a long section to wire in or run a plug..

We have 3 of these. One is hard wired into a light circuit for use in the lounge area, one has a cigarette lighter plug but is mounted permanently in our bedroom with a socket, and one has a cigarette lighter adaptor so that we can move it around into the bedroom, lounge area or outside under the awning if there is no breeze.

We have our fans like theHeaths - except their portable one is hard wired facing the table set up or turning into the cabin if we have visitors. The one near our bed, also turns round to do the kitchen area.

Love them

The wiring on my fan broke. I was told I swivelled it around too much. Fortunately son repaired it.

Thank you so much people. Have bought the cig lighter plug. So see how we go. Haven't decided to permanently fix or on a block of wood. Hope to run into some of you on our way around.

PS. I will get around to putting a photo and some info shortly.!!!!!

I changed the original wire to a heavier one then ran under van to batteried with a fuse next to the batteries. It's hot wired now and workes a treat without any problems at all.

The reason that they have thin wire most likely is that they use bugger all power
Draws 0.35 amps on full speed

Hi All, I am aware this thread is about the Sirocco fan wiring, but, does anyone know how to take the blades out of the casing to clean them? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated because my three fans desperately require a clean
cheers,
Robyn

Robyn, there are 3 or 4 little plastic clips around the outside of the guard, that push into some holes.

Remove these carefully, as they do break, but that is how you get into them.

They then push back in to hold the guard together.

As TheHeaths said - you have to squeeze the ends of the clips together at the rear of the guard and push them through to the front. I just use some small pliers. If you want to remove the fan blade, it just pulls off but can be a bugger to get back on, so it's easiest to clean it 'in situ'.

Cheers
Joe

Be extremely careful if taking the blades out - if you get them even slightly twisted, they will "click" or vibrate. Gently does it with all of the fan.

Bought our fan and attached a 12v plug to end plus some longer wire. Has anyone noticed a red light inside the back of the fan that when turned on flashes?

I got my fan last month and wired the same way - No - have not seen the red light, will have to check - How do you look inside of the back of the fan if it is mounted??
