Looking for easily accessable beach fishing spots between Busso and Jurien in WA close to caravan parks. Love my fishing but age has got me and can't walk too far to do what I used to. My tug is a 2wd MUX so driving thro sand tracks and on beaches is out of the question. We regularly go to Ledge, Lancelin and Cervantes but over the past 12 months all that seems to be catchable from the beaches is piddling little sand whiting, like six inches. All go straight back. Anyone out there have any luck getting a feed of bream, whiting, herring or whatever? I'm not keen on sitting on jetties watching inconsiderate fishers taking all and sundry regardless of size. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.
I'll probably get some "fish n chip shop" suggestions, but that just isn't the same, is it!?

I would suggest you go a little further up the Coast Dave,
Have you tried Cliff head North, It's up near the Brand highway, top end of Indian Ocean Drive,
It's a 72 hr free camping area and you can park on the hard fill near the Toilet Block,
If you are lucky you can pick a spot right beside the waters edge, fish from the door of your caravan
only a couple of draw-backs, there is a lot of sea weed on the foreshore, but if you can cast a rod, it's not to hard to reach the sandy sea bed
and there is little shade to be had ,unless you drive through some pretty soft sand, not the best place to be in the middle of summer, or when the wind is blowing from the south.
We have stopped there a number of times over the years and most times there are fish to be had at either sun rise or sun set, the scenery alone is worth the stop, just to camp on the beach and watch the sunset. "Beeewtfulllll"
I have caught some good size Whiting, Snapper, and Salmon here in the past,
have seen large schools of Salmon heading up the Coast from the beach in the past as well
If interested, check it out in the Free / Budget Campsites. W.A. Cliff Head North [WA] south of Dongara
P.S. not a word about Fush & Chups either

From Coast to Coast, We'll see it all.......One Day
Dave, one of the easiest access spots is Florida Beach, the turn off Old Coast Road just south of the Dawesville Channel. I don't know how it's fishing right now, but a mate used to do ok there in seasons past. It IS one of the easiest access spots in the Mandurah area though, but the beach is being cut away smartly into deeper water. That might be good or bad.. I haven't tried. But you might need to be a bit careful standing on the edge, although the high edge might help with your casting.
Another pair of quite easy-access locations are the old groynes near the new surf club building at San Remo and at the north end of the Silver Sands beach. There is limited room on the top of these structures, but if you can score a position there (usually quiet during the week), the height makes getting a cast out relatively easy notwithstanding strong sea breezes. Water depth is a bit better than average to the north of both these points due to current effect there.
I haven't fished the beach myself this season. A bout of back trouble has been a problem for me for casting. The beach usually takes second place to my boat and kayak anyway, so can't comment how it's been fishing this summer. Guys were catching salmon from the Silver Sands groyne back when they were running, so tailor might be a possibility, herring almost certainly. I rigged up a twin-wheel barrow for tackle transport on the beach and haven't got around to using it yet. If I can think of any other easy spots I'll add to this lot later.

Oh.. I didn't address the 'close caravan park' question. I guess any park in the Mandurah area is not too far away from Mandurah's onshore fishing spots. Cost and site availability could well be an issue especially in the holiday season. Among others, there are caravan parks in Dawesville and Falcon.
You could try Sandy Cape about 8k's North of Jurien. Amazing beach and the fishing is rumoured to be very good from the beach and the camping is good although you need to be reasonably self sufficient eg set up for free camping.
K.J. and Ger08, you jerked my memory back into gear. 40 years ago I fished that area from Dongara to Jurien many of times. Cliff Head, Little Anchorage, Billy Goat Bay, Sandy Bay, Sandy Cape, Green Head, Carson's Beach etc. Definately our next venture. Never missed out on a feed either. Living in Northam now so only about 3 1/2 - 4 hour trip which is handy too.
Saying that, still better take chops n bangers along just in case! Not many fush n chup shops along that stretch!!!!!
pretty much forget the Dawesville CP. Its usually full of permanents and its rumored the RAC has or in the process of buying it for its members only (along with some others they are doing the same with). I live not far away from it and the facilities are supposed to be only fit for blowing up
