SNIP~~~ Good luck with any reimbursement, let us all know how you get on.
Gday...
yep ... I would be interested in the outcome as well.
I sure hope the Wagga mechanic took photos of the bearings on the other three wheels before he made repairs ... and full documentation of the job would help.
Cheers - John

Will do..I repeat, next time I have bearings fitted and if I am given a choice in the matter, then I will not be using/choosing Chinese made bearings....period.
From personal experience from my fishing days in Pt Lincoln....Chinese made stainless steel fishing knives/filleters lasted only weeks/months in a constant salty atmosphere, whereas my American Schrade Stainless Steel lasted years..not to mention the lousy 'edge holding' properties of Chinese knives.....the Chinese do something 'special' to our good Aussie Iron Ore we send them......Hoo Roo

My brother's misfortune has obviously been a source of entertainment for some, I realize it goes with the territory when I posted.....
I'm sure no one is making light of your brothers misfortune Goldfinger, most unfortunate position to find ones self in.
The reason for the light heartedness it the fact that threads of this nature bring out all of the armchair experts and self proclaimed guru's, each indignantly claiming to be correct and pouring scorn on alternative views.
I note the real experts have started another wheel bearing thread, ya gotta smile.
And now for a little more Popcorn.

HMMM...same as you on popcorn...
Gotta mug of coffee and a snag sanga here....but methinks I could be sick of coffee and snags before this reaches a conclusion or is locked.
BUT
Commiserations to Goldfingers brother on his misadventure and the gigantic stuff up. I have had a few similar over the years....and without exception at the hands of someone else who "worked" on my stuff...so now I do as much of it as I can...and am VERY carefull about who does the rest.
Oh well, every ball or roller in a cage or holder has a tolerance. The cage, holder, casing has a tolerance. The grease has an acceptable quality level. The mechanic has a competency level. The apprentice has a competency level, given the mechanic is supervising him. We loose one of these, maybe a smidgen on another and we get failure. Then we start the blame game. Do we really need to have a Royal Commission into a bearing failure? New bearings do fail because of a lapse in quality control regardless of brand or country of origin, I believe none are made in Australia, please correct me if I am wrong!
Having spent years in Quality Assurance, this failure is one in how many? Is it an acceptable quantity in accordance with the acceptable Quality Level? Can we trace the failure back to it's root cause? Was there loss of life? Significant damage to cause harm or damage to people? Finally, is it going to force a recall of product due to faulty whatevers?
I do feel sorry for the person who suffered this failure. I wish them all the best. I hope the failure is not too expensive to repair.
That's my piece and I can guarantee it is going to get slammed.
