Paying Bills whilst away from home

Hi All

I am looking for information on how do people know when they need to pay the home Bills whilst traveling fro extended periods Such as Water / Gas / Electric ???

Can you set up to receive bills via email rather than by post ???

Thanks in advance

Yes nearly all bills can be received via email.

Go to the website of the service provider and there is generally an option to sign up for email bills.

If it can't be done via the website contact them to arrange.

Yep - in WA, Water Gas & Electricity can all be electronic - even setup auto payment. Also Insurance, Council Rates and Credit Card are emailed. No wonder AustPost is seeing such a reduction in the volume of mail!

Take your last paid bill of each type, gas , phone, electricity or water with you. When you're in a town go into the PO, give them the old bill & you can pay as much as you like on each of them. Another method is to overpay the amount owing on your current bill with an amount that covers your next bill or two before you take off on your trip. Simple really.

The bar code on your utility bills is the same every month or billing period, it's your account number. Pay away!

While we don't have a 'home base' as such, our bus is still registered in Tassie. They send the rego notice electronically, through the bank, who then email us. Insurances are electronic reminders.

We have direct debit on bills that can not be negotiated ... like rates and power, However with other accounts like insurances we negotiate with these companies every year we receive the account. In 8 out of 10 cases we gain a reduced price.

all mail is redirected and arrive in sufficient time for us to take action.
