Search underway for man lost swimming near Kununurra

Some People will never learn,....... DON'T SWIM IN FLOODED RIVERS !!

A search is underway for a man in his 20s who was caught in a strong current while swimming in the Ord River near Kununurra, in Western Australia's far north.

The alarm was raised at 5:00am after police were notified the man had gone swimming with a friend at the Ivanhoe Crossing.

It was understood the man was swept away in a current, and taken downstream.

A local helicopter is being used to scour the area by air.

A six-year-old girl drowned at the Ivanhoe Crossing in October last year, while the area has been subject to flood warnings in recent weeks due to heavy rainfall across the region.

Don't swim in crocodile habitats either - there are croc warning signs at Ivanhoe Crossing! Let's hope the young man is found safe.

Heartbreaking for the families. I really hope they find him. Such a foolish thing to do!

Locals don't swim. Only the tourists.

We've seen salties out round the islands but don't tell tourist that.
and there's a few up the Fitzroy, resident.

Plus those Iranjaya things. about an inch across Near invisible
and real nasty

On. Not in. thank you.
