Personally, I have had a couple of Navmans, and had heaps of problems with them. The latest one I have is a Hema HN7, and it seems to be worth the money so far...
Hema are "top of the range", if you do a lot of off road stuff that's the one. However if you are mainly on black stuff for a reasonable price I don't think you could get better than Garmin, I've had one for years can't fault it.Garmin also let's you put in GPS co ordinance, very accurate when using Camps and Wikicamps.

Have a Navman GPS LM60 Don't like it or the maps and the touchscreen is poor. hard to put in an address to find. Predictive texts can stuff it up.
This model was a replacement for the Navman GPS/Crash Cam which went back six times for repair. Finally given this pair as replacement. I cannot fault the crash cam but the GPS No Thanks. I pinched back my Garmin Nuvi I had passed to my daughter when I bought the Navman combined unit.
All in all the Garmin was by far the better GPS in my opinion. The PC software is easier to use as well..................
We have a Hema HN6, had it for numerous years. Good for saving your tracks of where you have been, and of course, all those special places you find. Ours came with software for the computer (ozi explorer) Will upgrade to newer version when we have too
Had Tom Tom, pretty good, bought a Hema hn7 march this year, stopped working last week, sent back for warranty work, VMS still going strong, got me buggered Hema were supposed to be good

I heard their mapping a bit iffy in city's. but we don't live in city so fine for us. Taken us round Aust for 30 yrs or so and only twice missed a beat.
I have a basic 60 unit. (6in screen) Does everything for me and more. Distance, fuel, averages, etc. Cost $165 del a coupla yrs ago.
Free map updates for life of machine.
Missus 760, yrs old. (ex my car) Cost me around $750. Has more in it. But modern mapping betterer and freebee.
I'd recommend Garmin over others. IN THIS PRICE RANGE.
There are better. and also a LOT dearer.

If you have a Smartphone it will have gps. Use that it is always up to date.
I have Sygic offline GPS (no data usage) on an Android phone (Samsung S7). I have the paid version for wordwide maps (about $40 on special). Wikicamps coordinates can be sent straight to it. (doesn't work with Iphone though).
I also use Sygic on my in dash multimedia unit that is Android based, pay once get it on both devices. Lots over other apps link to it as well.
Over the past 7 months I've tried a few the Mercedes unit is not good takes you round the world and gives you incorrect directions I've been using a gamin 770lmt much better but still doesn't take you on the shortest route even when you program it to do I always check it against google maps and it has never faulted.Did a search to which unit uses google maps and all I can find is they all use similar mapping what a lot of crock I've proven it over and over again google maps has never failed for quickest route.
