The remote West Australian community of Fitzroy Crossing has lost power after a fire at the town's power station on Friday night.
Emergency services put out the fire quickly but the control systems were damaged, leaving 750 customers without power.
Horizon Power crews worked through the night to restore power to the hospital and police station in the town, which is 400 kilometres east of Broome in WA's Kimberley.
Fitzroy Crossing is sweltering in the meantime, with temperatures of 40 degrees Celsius forecast today and expected to reach the high 30s into next week. Heavy rain is expected across the Kimberley region this afternoon.
Motorists are urged to avoid relying on fuel supplies at Fitzroy Crossing, as there is no fuel available within 300 kilometres of the town.
