Helnic, if you are travelling via the coast road, in Cairns there is the Lake Placid Top Tourist Park 07 4039 2509 and Cairns First City Caravilla Park. The later park has quite a large area for storage, and usually has a lot of vans in storage.

We left ours at Mareeba Country Caravan Park. No charge for leaving in storage, left ours there for 6 weeks. Stayed 2 nights either side of our trip up. Those nights were $25 per night. They figure travellers would spend a few nights either side of their trip, and make money that way.

Gday...

This is a favourite, and economical, spot to leave your van when heading up Cape York.

Lakeland Caravan Park, 1 Sesame St, Lakeland QLD 4871.

This is their site -

http://www.lakelandcaravanpark.com.au/accomodation.htm

Check out the information contained in the 'sub-pages' on the left side of the page.

Cheers - John

We left ours at Laura last year. There are four or so powered sites if you're lucky enough to grab one and need to keep your fridge going.

Not entirely free. Mt Carbine and I think Lakeland will store your van free if you spend nights before and after your trip to the Cape.
