When I go shopping at Supercheap, I always check their prices carefully. Unless they are on special, their prices are rarely 'Super Cheap' thesedays. A bit like BCF & Annaconda I suppose.

Yep, you really need tp know your prices. Super cheap sell 20ltr plastic jerry cans for $34. Kmart $19.
Best to know prices no matter what. I reckon some places that offer a big % off sales have already set their prices to cope with this. Just spent the afternoon in Annaconda. You really need to know your prices.
Supercheap, Rays Outdoor & BCF belong to the same company. I bought some occy straps from Rays last week at $39. Same were $50 at Supercheap.

Oldbloke I bought 2 of the yellow plastic ProQuip diesel jerry cans from Supercheap on Saturday for $22 ea. not as cheap as Kmart but they weren't $34 (maybe they were on special). I also bought a 150kg heavy duty camp chair from Annaconda on the same day for $129 when we got home my wife noticed that one of the legs had a rubber cap missing from the foot. She took it back today and exchanged it for the same chair - they gave her a refund of $32 because this week they had them on special.

Yeh, probably on special. But it never fails to amaze me the prices of some items. It has little to do with cost of manufacturing and transport etc.
A recent example was a thermometer. I had a need for a couple of red alcohol ones. $9 at Bunnings and got them for 1.50 each delivered off evilbay. So with buying in bulk what do you think Bunnings pay, may be 20 cents at the most. I'm sure the prices are simply set on the basis of sales. If an item is selling at say $20 while people keep paying, the price will not drop, even if they could make a decent profit if sold for $1. Many items overseas are much, much cheaper that here in OZ.
Fuel always makes me laugh. Ten cents dearer in the bush, say an hours drive from Melbourne & fuel companies always claim its the cost of transport. Just BS, they transport it for less than 1 cent a litre. There are exceptions of course, like way out like Kalgoorlie.

Funny that .. I was asked at the Supercheap checkout if I had a loyalty card. I asked what was the benefit & was told that it entitles you to a price guarantee, in that if you purchase an item & it goes on special later then you can get that discount. I suppose that there are time limitations.
I wonder if Annaconda do the same.

Looked at the 9m flat water hose at both - BCF $79.00 Supercheap $71.00 (from memory)
.......................
I have one of those flat hoses. Two problems.
a) they are not suitable for drinking water if used under pressure. They will seriously taint the taste of your water just like an ordinary garden hose. You must also flush them before using them to fill your tanks because the residual water in the hose will taste like plastic.
b) if you use them under pressure, eg., connected to a supply tap and then to your van sink tap, the hose will seriously stretch into a round shape. Once it stretches you no longer have a flat hose and it will NOT resume its former shape (no matter how long you leave it) and will no longer fit on the wind-up reel.

Yep you get 1 month price guarantee for credit back to your card for the next purchase and no need to keep receipts.
