I feel like I'm in a time machine and have travelled back to the days of flower power - other than the caravan bit it sounds very much like the alternative lifestyle that people moved to Nimbin for in the 60s & early 70s. They probably wouldn't have harmed the local wildlife though they would have grown their own crops and that would have included some food. Good luck with your dream Oz n Millie there are people around that north coast area of NSW who have successfully lived like that for many years. Peace man..
Edit....forgot to say, I hope all sites are drive through or at least the driveway wide enough to reverse onto the site without any problems. I don't like being the daily happy hour entertainment.

I actually got the idea several years ago when I was parked in one of those reststops on the Nullarbor which overlooks the Great Australian Bight. I thought this would be a great area to set up such a park. Maybe not completely free. What a great location.

The CMCA is in the process of establishing such camp sites for its Members. They will be on either leased or purchased land. They will have a dump point available and water and be for self contained vehicles. There will be an on site host. The plan is to establish 100 such camp sites across the country and for them to be $5 per night. So far only one has been opened and it has been free thus far.
Cheers, Peter

Stayed at many van parks that have fruit trees. In season it's help yourself.
One park had a small vegie garden with tomatoes, chilli and other small stuff. Just asked people to be careful and not destroy the actual plant.
Then there is staying next to water where there is fishing. As a pensioner, no longer need a licence.
Met a couple of Aborigines once who reckoned that white-man's road-kill (from overnight trucks) was making life easy.
Stayed at a few parks with lots of rabbits. My Jack is good at catching them.

Yes .. the unfortunate aspect of it all is that someone somewhere will have to cover costs .. I'm not a believer in a "free" ride .. cheaper maybe .. ?
With exception to unlimited caravan stays, it's called Prison
Gday ...
... AND inmates get an 'income' while in prison as well -
Earnings
Prisoners are paid for work undertaken in work programs or attendance at prison programs at three different levels calculated according to the degree of responsibility, complexity of the task, skills required and hours of duty involved. Prisoners also receive payment for participation in prison programs which can include educational programs.
... and given the 'crowding' in our prisons - perhaps if they had a van they could be 'confined to their van' in the exercise yard
Cheers - John

Wouldnt it be great if there was such a park that provided:
- Free accommodation
- Free food
- free power
- unlimited caravan stays
Land wouldnt be a problem its cheap in many places, local wildlife could provide the food and wind turbine for power.
In my opinion, so I could be wrong
The logistics is just a matter of planning, and could therefore be accomplished
But...
As we are all different, it would probably be hard to find a lot of people, (to keep the cost down), of the same frame of mind, who for whatever reason, feel that a particular place and lifestyle, is their utopia
And then of course there is the local government who would have a few things to say about camping even on your own block of land
In WA you can only camp 3 days on a block ........
I agree there are certain difficulties that do exist in different locations within Oz .. I'm out in western NSW.
I'm currently in the process of having a "shed" (requiring Council approval ) constructed on my block and the local Council has no problems with my being on the block in my van.
There is no other structures on the half-acre block other than trees .. Have power and water connected and using a waterless toilet system 'til a septic system is installed ..
Only problem I have, it takes me 30 seconds to walk to the Pub .. a most unfortunate convenience, but I'm working on it !

Gee Bruce .. I left the concrete jungles behind and it's BYO satellite connections .. also .. as I already have the added convenience of hot / cold artesian pools only 5 mins walk away, I would have difficulty in finding time for a bouncy castle .. You could bring your own, I suppose !
Free to camp,
Free power (from the sun),
Free food - fish (ok not all food is free but sometimes the locals might give away eggs & vegies)
No restrictions on time.
