Perths 4WD Adventure and Caravan Show

Well the weather turned on a beautiful for the event today. We decided to beat the traffic this year and got there at 8am.......

A bit of overkill I suppose, whats worse.......sitting at the entrance at the front of the queue for an hour or waiting in your car half way up the highway waiting to get in. It was not long before they had a queue in each direction and a good couple of hundred people waiting to get in at 9 and the cars still rolling. If your going tomorrow and have an online ticket queue on the left and if your buying ticket when you get there try the right..

there was plenty of stuff to buy.....you name it and it was there and plenty of it. The storage containers foor food seemed very popular.......there was not many left on that table when we went by the second time round.

Of course our main interest is the caravan, we are getting close to a design we want.......east west bed and club lounge are the main requirements and off road. And what colour schemes........ I was leaving that bit to Peachpie........Kokoda looked pretty good but no east west.

This year the sales people for far better behaved and were happy to answer questions without trying to get you to sign on the dotted line. There was plenty people doing that so we wish them all the best with their purchase.

We browsed through all the others and showed some interest in Retreats Mabel and ABBA from Rockingham had their new Masterpiece Performance on display. I liked the outside colour scheme and they had a customisedLots east west bed config, that was good to see.

Lots to see and do and stuff to learn.

I also got Peachpie into a few vehicles, a Mazdz BT, Ford Ranger, DMax and Amarok albeit the four cylinder, but very impressed with that one.......we have already dumped the Colorado and Nissan.

So it was a great day out we enjoyed it far more then the previous year.

If your going tomorrow hope you to have a good time

James and Pauline

Hi Bushpie,

It nice to see your doing your homework. It pays to go a second time  and take photo's of under the van and where they place tankage etc.

Look in all cuboards to see where they run cabling, gas pipes and water pipes. They all look good face on.

But remember one thing. Out of site, out of mined.

Good luck with your selection.

we bought a new 24ft Jayco about 8 years ago. Had it for 18 months and used it up north WA and never had one single problem with it. We only sold it because we had our own business which grew too big and we ended up with 40 staff and us working 7 days a week - so the caravan sat in the driveway gathering tree leaves and dust. Sold it back to the dealer and only lost about $4K on our buy price - happy with that.

But two years ago we went to the WA RV and Camping show and looking at which van to buy, we noticed all the shower door handles were broken off on ALL of their units and many of the cupboard doors had come adrift.

Looked at Supreme and subsequently bought a bloody lemon - sigh !!!

Its a bugga aye Bruce.......what to bUy......... lol...we are expecting a lemon.....seems to be the norm for me when I get a car....caravan should be no different.....

Yep the shower doors looked a bit flimsy so an extra or a tougher latch would be on for sure....I felt the cupboards and drawers were a bit better fitted this year.....but you wont know til it gets out in the playground I guess....

We are leaning towards buying out of show times......the prices seem way better, but the show gives us an idea who is better to deal with.

Bushpie, what are you after? We brought the BT50 extra cab at the show two years ago, and have purchased a Jayco van. If you want a look can arrange.
