Was talking to the man down the street whose father was prisoner on the Burma railway during world war 11 and died there aged 26. He went over there 2 years ago to find out where his father was buried and didn't realize that there was over 2,600 Australians that died in just that one particular area.
Yes Helen totally agree, a few years back when i was in Thailand we went to the river Kwai the original bridge was destroyed just after the war. We visited the war graves for those who died on the railway, it was heart breaking not only Aussie's also Indian, Canadian, British, NZ and a few other nationalities. One sad thing was there age average around 19 - 21.
Bloody waste of human life lets hope we never have the like's again. They gave the lives for the sake of freedom for us left behind, with recent goings on in this world they will be turning in their graves.
