We live around the area so know it well and our favorite is Urunga Heads Holiday Park in a lovely peaceful seaside village of Urunga which is about 20min south of Coffs. It actually overlooks the lagoon just near the beach and has amazing boardwalk walk leading to the beach which is great for sunrise and sunset walks. The park is clean, tidy and modern plus you can walk to a supermarket, shops, restaurant and pub.
My next choice is Woolgoolga Beach Holiday Park again about 20min north of Coffs. This one is right on the beach with unrestricted views with the shopping Centre behind it. It is a larger town than Urunga and has an Indian influence due to the Indian farmers in the area which makes the town quite unique. The caravan park again is clean and well maintained and you have miles of beach right at your doorstep.

Agree 100% We often stay at either of these. Have never stayed at Coffs. It is not to our liking.
I agree with Roving-Dutchie about the Woolgoolga Lakeside CP. Perhaps because I can easily launch my kayak there & paddle far up the lake/Creek & stroll along the beach to the shops etc.
It has been 'done up' in recent years with better roads & facilities.
A couple of sites near the Surf Club House at the CP in town have ocean views but it is very busy. They have put cabins on the best ocean view spots.
Urunga is a beaut spot with great kayaking access. Bit of a walk to the surf though.
Would South West Rocks be too far from Coffs.
The horseshoe bay caravan park has sites overlooking the beach.
Unpowered camp sites at Trial bay goal have views of the bay.
Red Rock, Moonee Beach, Corindi, Urunga, South West Rocks, Crescent Head. There are some really good parks. Some close to the beach, some with a bit of a walk over a sand hill. Dunleith Park at The Entrance North is brilliant. Try Crescent Head to Point Plomer. Very underated fishing & surfing.
Old surfies never die. They surf at Crescent Head or South West Rocks. Never seen so many grey nomads (or locals) surfing. Most are still riding (some on old Malibu boards) and some are just using body-boards these days.

Have really enjoyed the lay back area of Redrock, friends perfer Corindi?
If you have the time on the way though take 10 minutes to check them both out, Redrock has a great beach to walk along and the river is inviting to play in.
Take your time choosing, great drives along the coast. Turn left every chance you get off the highway, same great adventures to be had.
Woolgoolga
We stayed at lakeside cp
The spots at the back overlook the ocean
Small caravan park but very very nice. Direct beach entry down a pathway.
Only about 20 or 30 minutes from coffs
