The race that stops a nation, huh, a national disgrace would come closer to describing the event, what must the rest of the world think of the antics of these idiots.
maybe they need more staff, most of the bins looked pretty full to overflowing...no excuse for the drunks who make fools of themselves.oh well same again next year. regards ray
I'd like to go to both, but an expensive proposition when you live in WA. But we didn't get left out over here. Melbourne Cup race was shown on the big TV screen at the Ascot racecourse in Perth and we still turfed rubbish around the place and got into to fights with one guy getting a "coward punch" and ending up in a critical condition in the states critical trauma care centre.
We just cant handle our booze - its cool to be totally drunk it seems and either scrap or make a fool of yourself ..........

The amazing things you see when nomading Australia
Thanks Santa, I didn't know I was missing so much fun, I will definitely be there next year, just have to put some matching wheels on my esky. I might even wear some
I must be the only one in Oz that has never had any interest in either the Melbourne Cup or the Gay Mardi Gras but I guess thats just me.
Me too!
Me as well
Grandad said, not to follow the horses, until the price of horse manure goes up
Perhaps they should let us Grey Nomads free camp there, on the understanding that we will put the rubbish in the bins
Also if they let us place our bets for up to two hours after the race, (we would have been busy before and during the race, picking up rubbish), that would be a bonus for us
I must be the only one in Oz that has never had any interest in either the Melbourne Cup or the Gay Mardi Gras but I guess thats just me.
Me too!
huh there was horse race somewhere
me too

Given that a horse had to be put down on the track on that race and that, I am informed, approximately 200 horses die each year at Aussie tracks just to provide us with enjoyment, maybe we should call Melbourne Cup day the Day of the Dead. Sort of goes with the behaviour if these folk at the track. Just my thoughts which I know will not be taken well.... cheers all

We attended the Cup this year. It was a bucket list item. The event was well run. We stood near a waste bin that was replaced with an empty one during the day. The majority of the 97,000 people there were well behaved. Noticed that these photos are taken well after the races have finished and the vast majority of the people have left the race course.
No matter how many staff you put on, people will still be lazy pigs. You pick up after 1, 3 more toss rubbish down. And they block your access........ either to be pricks, because they are drunk, or because they are arrogant tossers.

Nope. Neither interest me. I've worked at horse races & dog races, and can't see the attraction of them as entertainment, and the Mardi Gras has zero interest.
