iPhone/iPad Caravan Level App

i see there are now 4 apps available that can be used for leveling a caravan.

Has anyone used these and what did you think?

PLEASE I WOULD ONLY LIKE TO HEAR FROM ACTUAL USERS.  First hand experience only.  Not friends of friends. Not uninformed opinions.  Not silly comments.

thank you.

 Unfortunate attitude.

Use an A frame mounted spirit level .. cost<$10.

Now is that a silly response?  I think not. Perhaps the best advice that you will get.

Unfortunately I cannot comment on the app as I don't use it but I DO like your comment above as it is very valid.

I have just bought the Stay Level App. It requires 2 like phones/tablets (Ipad/Iphone) (Android phone to Android tablet). There need to have the right stuff inside the phone to work.

My Samsung S7 connects to the wifes Samsung S7. You have to have some settings set to make it hook together.

I have only used it once but it worked very well. It would be great to level the van sideways just by moving forward or backwards to get van just right by having one phone on floor of van and one phone on dash looking for that spot where the van is just right. It is probably not as important to level front to back unless you are not unhooking.

If this app looks like it may be useful, take the time to read info on the website.
It might be just a marriage saver.

I have been using "CLINOMETER" on my I pad for 2 years for my motor home - I find it very useful ($2.99)

Yes I think it's a silly response. One of the things that gets up the wicks of many of us is the number of detractors who interrupt the flow of threads with silly comments like "you should have brought XX brand." Some people come here here with problems and want them fixed, they don't want if rubbed into their face that they purchased the wrong equipment, they want it fixed, they don't want their noses rubbed in their problems. Others like this case come on with good suggestions and the majority of replies are so negative that quickly retreat from forums. When I ask around the caravan club meetings "who contribute forums" the overwhelming say "been there, too many negative characters on the forum just wanting to rubbish them." Here is a great example of their complaint.

No back to the thread. For those who have two similar phones I think this is a great method of finding of finding a reasonably level spot for one night stands. I suppose you can sit the navigator on the drawbar with a $10 level yelling directions as you drive around rather than drive around with a couple of phones you already have and a $5 app.

There's a Great Leveler built into the iPhone. Just slide left from the compass. :)

It does sound like a great idea as long as you have 2 phones or tablets that are the same. No good for us, I have a Android and SWMO has a Iphone. Will have to look for something else.

Krusty - Thanks for the info on the level within the Compass on the iPhone. Had no idea it was there.

I tried an iPhone app once. It wanted to be calibrated first and then when it was finally done and told me the van was level, I checked it with the T level on the drawbar and it was way out. So thats why I only used it once. The T level is right every time.

Perhaps Peter, my advice wasn't so silly after all.

What's wrong with diggerop's reply? He was giving what Bungendore asked for, first hand experience.

I assume that this was directed at me.

The answer is Nothing.

It confirms my expressed view. Based on my experience.

(I'll not pursue the issue further ..  so have as many free shots as you wish)

Hi Bungendore
I actually use one on my galaxy tablet its called camp aspect I got it on google play store can't remember but I think it was free.
It has two options one shows a spirit level and you put the tablet on the floor and it works very well and is accurate compared to my spirit level, the second option shows an aspect of the camp area it shows which direction you are facing ie nth east sth or west and also shows where the sun will set and were it comes up.
So there you have it an actual app that actually works and someone who has used it with good results.

Cheers and good travelling to you all
Ashley
