Hello again. Am planning another trip to NSW from Qld. Staying a night at Quirindi Caravan Park is/was a major plank in the planning; whatever places we decide to visit. Very mixed reports from reviewers on line. Can people who have stayed at this park please advise us. Thank you in anticipation.
this is my home town and the park is basic but has good amenities. The Imperial hotel just a short walk up the road has very good meals and a nice atmosphere.
The park is is a quiet part of town and is a part of the sporting ovals.
There is a really nice donation camp at Wallabadah(16 km east) that now has free hot showers and also is a part of the First fleet memorial.

Thank you for your replies. when one looks up things on the internet there is usually a mix of positives and negatives. staying at quirindi is essential to our travel plans (because of distance) and we are prepared to accept advice offered on this forum. thank you KFT and Roving-Dutchy.
C'mon Frank even I know that the first fleet didn't sail that far inland I believe that they only got as far as Scone (just kidding). Hey Frank do you happen to remember a truck stop on the New England Hwy near Wallabadah back in the mid 70s that was called the "Tank & Tummy" it was the best spot for buying deep fried turkey. Sorry Kev for hijacking your question but I'll have to leave the advice on the camping grounds in that area to the experts like Frank.
DavRo, I am no "expert" as you put it but I do remember the tank n tummy very well.
It is now a BP truckstop and has undergone a massive refit. The food is excellent as is the customer service. The price of fuel is usually around 6-10 cpl cheaper than Quirindi too.
Mate you could be right about the first fleet not getting that far up the creek but I suppose they put the memorial there so it is safe from Tsunami's hahaha.
I don't remember turkey being on the current menu though.

Back in my mis spent youth - before it became sociably unacceptable (and we had to hand in our guns) we used to go rabbit/fox/pig shooting on the other side of the highway around Nundle, Hanging Rock, Nowendoc always stopped there for a box of their turkey - just like KFC. Took fresh seafood with us from the coast to thank the property owners for letting us on their land (fresh seafood was a novelty for them in those days). We covered the cost of the trip by selling cleaned rabbits ($2/pair) back home at the local pub as that was a novelty at this end. Now back on topic.

Never shot a roo only the introduced ferals (not the human type) although I don't have a problem with people who did as I understand the problem that having huge numbers of roos can cause for people on the land. It's just something that I couldn't do personally I probably watched too many episodes of skippy or something when I was a kid.
