It means only logged in members can see it where as comments in threads can be seen by anyone. To read a white board members need to click on your user name to see it

Ellimike/Newhorizons you are getting the diamonds as you are writing/replying in advanced editor.
To get shot of them in your signature go to your profile and rewrite but not in advanced editor.
Me thinks its like that.

I'm a bit concerned that some people think it's private messaging maybe! I've just seen someone's mobile number on there. Would that be because they think they're only chatting to one person?

Ohhhh thats a bit iffy.....perhaps pm them and warn of the dangers......let them know that if they wish to give some one a number best way is to pm it to them......

or are they just wanting someone to call for a chat .......

The white board in forums is a bit like using Facebook. The difference is you have to be a forum member to look at it.

For those that do not see their whiteboard on their Profile "home" or "view profile," you have it switched off. If you want it visible then go to Profile "settings" and switch it on.

I have found it confusing myself, as I was left a message on the white board but didn't see the flag for many days later, whereas with PM's you receive a notification via email that you have a message.
If I understand it right if I want to reply to a message on my white board, I should go to the senders whiteboard to leave the reply or am I wrong on this point
Cheers
David
