Sold our Caravan

Hi,

Maybe this will be my last time posting on forum ? my beloved 2 year old new caravan has gone to a happy home, no I made the decision to sell as my husband is not interested in caravanning & I not completely comfortable in towing such a large item & setting up & traveling on my own. We have hardly done any trips so no point keeping something I'm not getting use from. I would love to keep reading about all your wonderful, fun adventures. I may consider a camper van down the track when I get over being sad, so good luck to everyone out there keep enjoying your travels.

Hopefully my lotto numbers come up, I can buy my dream Winnebago

K J

No reason why you shouldn't keep enjoying this forum KJ. There are plenty on here that have and do not anymore and plenty that don't travel at all. The important thing is to enjoy whatever you decide to do. Maybe just get away for a few days at atime staying in Cabins in CVP's or Motel's.

Keep Safe on thje roads and out there.

If he don't like getting off his arse and going with you.
Buy a Camper. and go.
Lots of women travel by themselves. Incl the lady over road from us.
She's always off somewhere.

Leave the miserable old git at home
he'll soon realise it takes two to tango.
Whether it's bludging in a brick box
or living life on the road.

And if he wants to stagnate.

Well.
See you later mate. Life is to be lived..

That normally sorts them out.

And if it don't with him.

Well.

Live YOUR life girl.

He's the one that will have the regrets ..
All lonely by himself.

A person is Born alone.

A person Dies alone.

Don't let some other person

control what YOU do with YOUR bit in the middle.

Hi K.J. Well done to you for making a wise decision at a time of your choice ,much smarter than when you really have to . Lets face it if it sits in your drive for 2 more years whilst you think about it thats just silly ! All the best for your future . Cheers.

Buy yourself a small motorhome with the comforts.  Not too big and easy to drive ie VW Transporter or something around 20ft.

If you are happy to travel by yourself you won't be alone, plenty of nice friendly people out there just like you.

Good luck

Helen

What a shame!! Well.....as Macka said...make plans to get out there yourself if you want to. There's no way you need a husband - I'm a chick towing a large van by myself. Easy Peasy really. Actually.......when I think of the 'alternative', it's REALLY easy .

Take care and always live your dreams.

Kylie, have a look at something like this. Much more manageable and much cheaper than a motorhome.

Keep reading all the great posts from people who are enjoying this great country, now and then you may recognise somewhere you have been and get a smile.

Vans can be daunting to some.specially if inexperienced. Older and smaller stature.

Campervans and smaller sized buses are ideal.
No Hitching. No reversing. Economical and you can if inclined tow a small boat

FISHINGGGGG........ Everybody likes fishing.

Lady over road from us is in Kombi Club.
Has a Kombi Camper. (Lovely little thing),
fully self contained incl, Tut and outside shower.

They travel all over Aust. Toyota and other camper clubs abound.

You'll NEVER get lonely. And EVERYBODY (mostly) lives with a smile on their face.

Be careful of these Super campers.
They normally cost as much as a 20ft van and the size of a matchbox.

If you going to tow. A small van is normally better than those campers in size. interior
and costing, value for money.
I've yet to see one that's really, Value for money.
They All gold plated. And "CUSTOM" Ha Ha designed/built.
For a compatable price.

By yourself though.
A Camper. Small Motorhome is normally the best way to go in your situation.
For security alone.
Something/someone happens. Get into drivers seat and drive off.
Gone. All in one.

have fun. There's a LOT doing it out there.

You only got one life n it is not a rehearsal, it is now or never.

A small campervan is the way to go. It doesn't have to be a big Winnebago.

Have sent you a PM.

Get on the net and find a boyfriend who likes travelling and has a few dollars to support himself. Either your current man will wake up or you will realise you are better off with the new one. Time is limited to us all. Use it well. Cheers Daz

Dear KJ nothing is forever!  We all make decisions that seem right at the time. I have a dear friend who for many reasons will  never travel Her great country. She tells me that seeing the sights through her friends eyes is very enjoyable . I hope you find a place in your heart to also enjoy this glorious country until you can also travel this land. Please stay with us and share with us.

Hi all,  I have just found your post and I realize that it is almost 12 months old but we are facing the sale of our beautiful Crusader Inspiration now as my husband is going to be facing back surgery in the coming months.

It is sad to have to admit defeat but when one partner cannot do the hooking up etc with what comes from travelling we have to hang up the keys to caravanning.

Van is now on the market, so all I can hope for is goes to a good home who will love it like we have.

Have to keep fingers crossed for lotto to be able to buy a small motor home.

Have fun travelling out there. I will watching with interest.

You do not need to stay at CP cabins which are getting dearer than motels now that Airbnb is offering places all round Australia. I had a quick look and found this place at Yowah (near Quilpie QLD) which is about as remote as you can get, priced from $42 a night. On the coast you can rent them for one night or ten for a fraction of a cabin price.

Good Luck.

We sold the van and 4WD few years ago when The Driver felt that, due to health issues, he was "over" the hassles of caravanning.
But even he came to miss the travel and we bought the Coaster.
Travel with some sort of motorhome is just so much easier and more comfortable.
It does not have to cost a fortune to buy something like this.
