Is there any good free camps on the coast road between Forster nsw and Grafton nsw ,we always travel inland usually but it's been a few years since we have been on the coast road,I know it's C/P territory .so I guess on that road they will be like rocking horse poo.
I don't do 'free camps' but a quick look at my Camps 6 book shows lots of them. Didn't look at Wiki Camps 'app'.
I suggest that if you are a free camper then you could do worse than purchasing either or both. I would have thought that they would be essential for free campers.
Some of the regular travellers of that road might share their favourites.
edit .. A quick look on WikiCamps showed a lot have 'no Camping' signs & a few are 'Self Contained' (don't know which definition of SC applies).

Thanks for your reply cupie yeah we freecamp and use C/p as well, we have wikki camps too as as well as camps 5 but we don't travel that coast road much.
theres some sites listed in camps ,but not much in wikki camps, for this coastal trip we will useC/ps but it would be nice to know where a couple of good freebies (recommended ones )were ,rather than wasting money in Cps just to get your head down late in the day ,In that situation a freecamp can come in handy If you get my drift...
If you wish to free camp and have a few skills on a computer set up a spread sheet and save all the sites you see on the forums you visit and you here from the people you meet.
I have three spreadsheets on with the camps 6 data for reference if needing gps points. Another that I enter all the details I can find sorted by state nearest town adn then I insert any info etc from the thread etc and then I have the lat and longitude.
When I have gps info it is copied to another with just the Lat and Long and a description eg name etc and this I download periodically into my GPS
At present I have over 1600 in the main spread sheet and over 990 in the GPS download so I have the gps bearing for them.
I can then reference back form the gps to the camps data one to see what people have said.
I also have every campsite in the spreadsheet where possible highlighted in the camps book on the map and the index to easily find places that I have data about.
I label FR for forum references and TR for info I obtain form fellow travelers.
A good exercise for those waiting to get out there and also handy for anyone on the road to keep a list of recommended sites with handy info.

on the way up the coast on tuesday saw a nice spot on the river near Buladelah.
there must have been 15 or so vans there, but not sure if its free camp or not.
its over the river from the hotel and if travelling north on the Pzcific Highway you need to take the exit into the town from the highway. Its only about 1 klm along the exit road so no big deal to duck in and have a look.
looked a nice spot to spend a couple of days. We will most probably drop in there next trip up thst way

While this site is outside the OPs roads as quoted, the Buladelah site is the Lions Park and is well known and advertised. It is via donation, it asks for S/C vehicles "with toilet & personal washing facilities" as the local toilets are across the river in the town. Grey Water is not to be discharged anywhere near the river
Whenever we use this [or any other 'by donation'] site, we drop $5pp/pn into the box to help with the general cleaning, mowing etc etc. for the area
We often find good spots just driving . At times setting up early in day . No hurry in our case ., often at microwave or telecommunication repeater tower roads .. As an example ..
