Kuranda Markets

Gday...

I would be very confident there are very few on the forum who haven't visited Kuranda and in particular the Heritage Market at some time.

For those who may have not yet had the pleasure, I thoroughly recommend including a day in your itinerary if in FNQ to visit this lovely town.

Attached are some photos of the Market.

Cheers - John

Nice spot.

Rather deserted.  Only one person in your 10 photos.

A long time since I was last there.  Loved the Butterfly place.

Gday...

  1. I was there last Friday;
  2. the reason it was "deserted" is I hate to take photos of places while filled with people - I prefer the site rather than humans.

I wait (and wait and wait sometimes) until there is no-one there and then take a quick snap.

The whole town was crowded 99% of the time. Many buses up from Cairns with Asian tourists. Also heaps of vehicles parked in the street/s. Thankfully there is a free all-day off-road car park provided - it seemed to cope.

It is a very busy and popular place - but despite all that, still worth a visit for the 'original' market.

Cheers - John

Gday...

No, didn't do Skyrail etc ...that would have meant being on the eastern side of Kuranda hmm

I avoid bit cities like the plague ... and it would only be an unavoidable emergency that would ever get me into Cairns.

Cheers - John

I visited the markets again in July for the 2nd time in 20 years and I must say that I think the markets were a bit disappointing this time...maybe it's because seaside markets have become so popular in so many towns these days that they now offer little variety of goods and nick nacks.

i still enjoyed Kuranda but it was not as unique as it once was IMHO.oo
