Dash camera

Have had several cameras all with suction cup mounts and none will stick to the windsceen or dash of the Territory. Any suggestion or recommendation of a sensible nature.

What I usually do

  1. Clean the inside of the windscreen, and allow the alcohol type cleaner to evaporate
  2. Wet the suction pad
  3. Attach the suction pad only, to the windscreen
  4. Fit the camera to the suction pad

Hope this helps you out

As a side not, when I am parked up for a few days, with the sun shining through the windscreen, the camera and suction pad will fall off

Edit to say that I have never been able to successfully attach the suction pad to the dash, perhaps it is not smooth enough

CC,

We recently purchased a new Navman Dash Cam and the suction cap would not stick. Asked Navman for solution, they sent a new windscreen mount (same style - no charge under warranty) and we have not had an issue since. I also have navigator stuck to windscreen no problems. I just make sure I clean area with metho and moisten the suction cap before applying.

Hope this helps.

@Jade46 I ordered one of those this morning to give it a go, otherwise I have cleaned the windscreen with alcohol and wet the suction cup but still know good. I think it is the widscreen on the Territory which is the problem.

Have it back on charge as it has not been used for a long time so will wait and see if the batteries hold their charge. May be up for a new one. Thanks for the replies all help on the learning curve. PS Just do not want to tow the van with out one. Cheers

We have a couple of them . No suction cups.

they come with slide in Mounting plate with compound on screen surface.
Mount it once. and change screen to remove. (seriously).

Just get it right the first time (Honeywell)

Covering film off.
Air/heat? fuse it to glass. End of story

Camera's small and black.
Mount on screen in front of/beside, centre mirror mount and indiscernible almost.
Been there for yrs now.

EVERY car. Should. By LAW have one mounted.
would save a lot of expensive arguments, court cases. solicitor fees.

Macka do you have a link to where you bought it from? Does it use batteries or capacitors? Cheers

I bought a dashcam (NanaoQ) that has a 3M adhesive pad to attach to the windscreen.

Yes I can still remove it if I have to do a windscreen change as the unit came with 3 spare pads.

Cheers

This may sound a bit dumb or might even just be a coincidence but whenever I have used a product like Armoral on the dash of a new car the windscreen forever fogs up and things like suction caps or rego labels won't stick very well. I mentioned this to the dealer when I bought this last vehicle and he said never use Armoral on the dash ordinary furniture polish will do the trick without the fumes - I haven't been game to try it yet.

I just use the leather polish when I do the seats. The Territory has a double curved screen and these cameras have a reputation of not sticking unless there is a flat area. If it is going to keep a charge and the pad I ordered does not work I will then try to get some of the 3m pads. Cheers

just google "Honeywell Dash Camera's."
and follow it.

They were around $240 for the 1000 ser. with GPS.
Very accurate with good CLEAR picture.
just upload Micro SD to tablet/lappie/PC and installed prog runs it.
Gives date time where Lat,long. Google maps and voice.
Ours run continuously now for near 5 yrs.

Link does not work. When you refer to something on EvilBay remember the items are ephemeral. For a permanent reference to your device right click on the picture, click on "save picture" (or similar wording) and save the picture to your computer. Then attach the picture into your reply. That will stay there for all time.
