Kokoda caravans

Hi Guys.

I am an experienced caravaner, I am about to upgrade my van and I was thinking of getting a new Kokoda Platoon XL X Trail. can anyone out there give me their thoughts before I buy this van.

I am looking for opinions of people who own or have owned a Kokoda van, I would appreciate all your thoughts good points and bad points

If you want I can supply my private email address.

I look forward to your comments

Best regards Banglabill

Banglabill,

Kokoda is a brand name only but Kokoda do not actually manufacture caravans.
The manufacturing process is sublet to a number of manufacturers and the actual builder will be stamped on the compliance plate.

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with this, but I think it is something you need to be aware of.

Hi Montie,

Thank you for your prompt reply, I found out that fact only this morning, but is that something to worry about, by that I mean if the suspension has a problem how would I know what company to contact to rectify, what company makes what part, can anyone help.

I am thinking of ordering it here in WA from the dealer but picking it up from the factory in Vic and having a holiday at the same time.

I have spoken to the WA dealer and he is quite happy for me to do this, it saves the freight costs, plus he has assured me that he will attend to any warranty issues should they arise.

Best regards Banglabill

I have missed you joining the forum so welcome to the gang Bill, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I don't have a Kokoda but did look at them in detail during my search for a van back a few moons now. I liked them but once I sat down with the dealer and wanted some cabinetry and bedding changes he was lost and wasn't sure how to go about it, so I thanked him for his time and made my choice elsewhere. I have had a few warranty issues, who hasn't, but the dealer dealt with them professionally and promptly. He arranged for the work to be done by others that were closer to me each time.

Hi we have a force x trail picked up Dec from the Mandurah dealer. On our first big trip we went east had 3 minor issues .every thing was fixed by arrangement with the dealer builder (Skytrex caravans) or the equipment supplier no complaints .Albiet we haven,t done lots of off-road stuff very happy.Picking up from the east is quite a saving

 Banglabill,

It simply means an additional link in the food chain....manufacturer....middle man......dealer.

I guess this in some circumstances could get complicated.
