Map shortage in NSW

How is this ...

We were after a large map of NSW.

We have just visited the Tourist Info Centre at Casino, and Tenterfield, Armidale and no full size NSW state map available. Also went to the NRMA Tenterfield , Glen Innis , Armidale and  again no full size NSW road map available.

Someone in the NSW Tourism Industry needs to follow up. I do not have a clue who to contact.

So we will have to wait until we get to the next major town.

Ok, I know that we can use Mr. Google, but it is impossible to plan our trip as the map are to small or yes plenty of regional maps, but no what we want.

Need hard copy to plan our trip/

Try newsagents in some of the larger towns, some have good stocks of maps.

I too prefer a large scale map to refer to in the early stages of tour planning but then I go to a series of local maps like the Cartographer series for the East Coast, or the local area tourist maps.

I am reluctant to change to the electronic versions although I do use a GPS as I travel.  Don't know why.

I have retained a large collection of Australia & State maps to suit my situation and have a rather detailed full map of Aus laminated & framed on the van wall .... of course marked up with most of my early extended trips.

I never had trouble in getting maps ... just go to large Newsagents or Book Stores .. Then there's Hema head office in walking distance from my home.

Cupie - youre just covering yourself in the event your GPS gets broken (falls off the windscreen) or just gives up the ghost. I am like you - use wikicamps app, GPS etc, but always have (or go out and buy) paper maps of the areas we intend to visit. I get a State map and then the area maps of where we are going to

I use the Camps Australia books to plan my trips, and find them just as good as a large fold out map, providing that I buy the spiral bound book
I also use the GPS to get through the built up areas, and to get me close to the camp

People say that these type of books are out of date, as soon as they are printed
I find that they are good enough for my needs, as I do not go off roading

Prior to obtaining these books, I was under the impression that most large servos usually had state wide maps for sale

For anyone reading in the future, I cannot recommend mapshop highly enough.
I purchased a ($80 damned expensive ) BIG map of oz online from them and noticed a corner de-laminated after a couple of days.
I emailed "Graham" and without proof or complaint, they sent out a new one next day.

We travel with our 8 year old daughter, no matter what form of e-map we use she (and a lot of others) cannot grasp the scale of the country without reference to the full veiw of it.

No affiliation, just impressed

If you contact the local RAC?.
They normally have full size maps of that State.
also a gov't department covering roads
shouls also do similar.

They do in S A and QLD. I have them.

Contact Tourism dep'tment of whichever State.
They have maps to suit.
I renew QLD. Territory maps every yr.
That, along with Wikicamps and word of mouth does all
99% of us would need.
