we are in Mackay, and someone suggested that we should visit Longreach this time of year, so has anyone some ideas which route to take thats sealed, and so good places to stop enroute .... thanks

I'm a little bewildered as there is only one way to go without adding several hundred kilometers to it, maybe you should just try google maps, sorry but I'm a practical person.
If they want to they could take the Fitzroy development road to the Capricorn Highway near Dingo , If they didn't want to go to Clermont . BaupleNut which way would you recommend
Mackay to Emerald and onto Longreach is the go. If don't want to go into Clermont just turn left at the roundabout. The 41 can be very hit and miss and most times of little or no benefit timewise
