I have the Tekonsha Model 2010 Breakaway Switch on our caravan, on the last trip ran over a small branch in a rest area and it flipped up and pulled the breakaway pin out, the plastic pin must have hit a rock when it came out and had a small chip in it. I knew something had happened, stopped and checked it out. Put back the pin and all was well again. Back in SA purchased a new Breakaway switch. ( first time this operation has happened in XX years of caravanning)
Last week I hired a Car trailer and in lieu of the Stainless Steel cable as per the Tekonsha unit, its cable was like a long steel spring between the switch and the vehicle, which to me is not a bad idea to keep the cable more out of the way and less likely to be pulled out.
