So good to read without fear, members commenting about their mental well being.
We look around us at caravan parks, watch couples or singles set up and think they don't have problems...but we all do, some more than others.
When stranded in Kathryn for 6 days in May this year with mechanical issues I hit rock bottom. It can happen to any of us at anytime.
The friendliness among travellers is remarkable. But we need to be observant to our neighbour, if they are withdrawn and could do with a cuppa and chat with a little advice thrown in.
I've been a volunteer with beyond blue for a few years now. Mental illness is slowly losing its stigma. A topic on a forum like this one was unheard of a little while ago.
If you feel you need to chat about it on a forum available 24/7 then get onto beyond blue forum.
Tony.

For the past year we've been walking briskly for an hour every morning. We also have four alcohol free days per week (flexible). We've both lost 10kg & feel mentally & physically better than before we retired a few years back. Staying away from happy hours in CP's every afternoon & bakeries on your way through country towns during the day is the KEY. All things in moderation.

Our land abounds in Nature's gifts, of beauty rich & rare. We'll be out there enjoying it somewhere, camped by ourselves much of the time.
Excuse my ignorance fellas, but exactly what is a "happy" pill...viagra...etherdrine, mogadon, valium or what?

G'day hako. In my case it is the one that keeps me out of that dark place I used to go to. I hope you will never need one, but, if the time comes, do not put it off.
Cheers.

isn't it so refreshing that so many people have come out of the darkness of the past and said they take various medication to help with their mental or emotional issues.
I'm a community support worker often with those with cognitive, brain damaged or diseased and emotional issues and its so good I can take these folk to shopping centres, bowling clubs, the movies etc without everyone else shrinking away thinking its an infectious disease. Many of these challenged people have a fantastic past and I love just listening to their earlier lives and then improving their lifestyles by just getting them out of their houses, where for many years they were forced to "hide". I love my job and have huge admiration for these great people

I think all of us have at one stage of our lives suffered from depression in one form or another but some more serverly than others.A good chin wag can often do wonders. We all need to support one another out there and just be kind to each other.
Cheers Chris

I was only talking to myself this morning about doing a mental health check-up and we both decided I am fine.
