Here we are in the beautiful Red Centre. I can now see why they call it that. Everything I own is covered in red dust, the 4wd, the van, my shoes, mats, and on it goes. But, it is a beautiful place and I feel privileged to have seen Uluru, Kata Tjutu, Kings Canyon, and many of the beautiful gorges in the MacDonell Ranges.
We've seen lots of retirees eating & drinking their way around Australia. Too many happy hours & too many bakeries. Many of them are suffering from severe obesity & find it extremely difficult to waddle to the amenities block. Exercise & moderation is the way to go. You'll live a lot longer folks!

Our land abounds in Nature's gifts, of beauty rich & rare. We'll be out there enjoying it somewhere, camped by ourselves much of the time.
Your blog is always a good read.Hope you have sorted the issues with the tow vehicle. You will have to wait for the weather to improve before making the trip to the Nations Capital.
Thanks Doug & John, Yes, the issues should finally be sorted tomorrow morning. The alternator has arrived from Darwin, all we have to do tomorrow morning is find someone who can jump start the tug for us. ACT is not on our radar yet.
Dessert Dweller, when you start looking at our photos, you may see that we don't frequent happy hours that much, beside happy hours do not have to mean alcohol. Our "eating our way around Austalia" photos, show us eating our own home cooked meals in some pretty beautiful locations. Hope you enjoyed the read.

Loved reading your blog Lorraine. Makes me want to get back to the Rock for another look. First time there in 1973 or was it 74, on a safari tent/coach tour, again in the early 1980's (with a husband and little 3 man tent) and then in 1999 with husband and 2 children and a bigger tent. The Rock hasn't changed but the surrounds have. The first 2 times we tented near the base of the rock and you just walked/drove around, all dirt roads back then, but the CP was set up away from the rock by the third time and you had to pay to go in. Now it sounds that there's quite a town and viewing platforms etc. The second time it was wet and we were the first car (ordinary station wagon) in for 3 days and it rained again whilst we were there and we saw the water running off the rock and the top of the rock shrouded with cloud. All special memories. Thanks again Lorraine.
I agree that lifestyle choices can to some degree extend a person's lifespan, but if it is at the risk of removing the things in life that you enjoy doing, then the old saying of being here for a good time rather than a long time comes into play.
Your life is just that, yours. You never know what the future holds. That out of control road train coming towards you could be deciding your fate years before that chocolate donut does.
Yep most enjoyable read.......love these blogs.....cant wait to start our trip around Australia.......... I think someone if I suggested five years though.....

Hi, I enjoyed reading your July blog., especially since we were supposed to be doing that trip at the same time. However, due to family illness, it didnt happen. Do you have a blog/website for your whole trip? i couldnt see anywhere on that page to access the rest of your trips. cheers and enjoy, Steve
Hi all, and thanks for all your positive comments.
Gaylene, agree, the rock would not have changed much in 40 years, but the infrastructure has. Would love to have seen it with water cascading down...
Thanks for your comments Robert (as a road train just hurtled up the Stuart Highway....)
Love your quote DaffieFrancis
Macca, my husband is a Pommie and proud of it - and that is not being racist
TravelBug, thanks, hope we can have at least another five, if not more on the road
Cadpete, I will let you know when the eating stops...
Bushpie, get out and enjoy
Steve11, the sooner you get out, the less illness there might be. Don't have a website or blog site, normally send our via email monthly (or there abouts) PM me if you want to join my emailed distribution list, or if you want back copies.
