Perth to Uluru

hi everyone :)

Has anyone recently headed from Perth to Uluru via Kalgoorlie, Laverton and Warburton .

They say the roads are really good now . Bitumen to Laverton and then dirt track the rest of they way .

Any info or feed back would be really appreciated ..

Thanks

Cal

Just did it end of  June, first hundred or so Klm's slight corrugation now and then.  Rest of WA side ok to the border.  NT side is Red Sand hard packed and slight to heavy corrugation for short distances. Although the Grader hade completed 90 klm's from Yulara when we passed him      ( us heading East West)   Docker River has a  elevated road section in place just nearing completion when we crossed the river. Hardly any water in the river at that time.

Good Trip but still take precautions as conditions change with weather and traffic use.

Tyres let down to front 25 - back 28 - Trailer 28 all around for me

Dust was no problem as it had rained on and off the roads were damp mostly (Not Muddy)  But be prepared  as it is a long dusty road when dry.

Take your Time look at the scenery as it is a wonderful drive with lots of camping spots along the road.

Even when the road is good the vibration will destroy things and make things fall off. Like wheels, Fridge vents (picked up a new one off the road on the way)  Gear in the cupboards.  Secure it all before it makes a mess.

Enjoy.

Just finished a few days ago. Agree with what Mike and Ellie said except there is now plenty of dust. Comfortably did trip in 3 days plus another half day in NT. We thought scenery was great and there are plenty of free camps along the way in WA. Use wiki camps if you have that. Enjoy

Thanks Geoff

That's excellent news . Is your caravan an off-road design .

We have a Windsor Streamline 2001 with only the 14/195s rims except its raised with the leaf springs turned up the other way for more clearance .

Ps thanks for the heads up on wiki camps as well

Yes we have a semi off road van with independent suspension. Clearance won't be an issue so just take it easy and lower tyre pressure. Speeds ranged from under 40 to a comfortable 75 on the good surfaces. It took a good 4 hours todo the NT section. Secure everything in van as they will rattle about
