GOLD DETECTING

Has anyone on here done any gold detecting?  Is so, where (what region) and also what sort of detector do I need, preferably lightweight.

I am going to go looking and hope for a large nugget lol.

Maybe Victoria or South Australia.

Only need an ounce a week!!

I'm dreaming again.

G'day Adreamer, I have made a number of posts on this Forum regarding gold detecting, miners rights, and the various detectors available...I always recommend hiring one for a weekend or day before making any commitments as many find out its not for them...or there is no gold in THEM THAR HILLS........I suggest carry out a search on this Forum as its still up to date info......below is an interesting if not a bit fanciful recent 'This Day Tonight' from Adelaide concerning gold detecting in S.A....
All the best. Catch you out there....Hoo Roo

Hiya Helen - you laugh about finding an ounce of gold........we went through a WA town which had a large public relations centre and museum. They also hired out detectors. About 8 months prior to our visit, a couple had hired a detector for a day and found 3 ounces of gold - for the cost of the hire and a prospectors licence. They had never done detecting before !!!!

Hi Helen

I agree with Goldfinger. May be best to hire one for a couple of days. I have a detector and yes there is gold in them hills, you just have to find it. Also gold panning in creeks is also profitable. There are maps and also groups / clubs ect do a bit of research and all will be profitable. cheers
