Lets all get together!

OK maybe this has been done before BUT...

I would like to volunteer to organize a "grey nomad forum" weekend or week. Place and time is up to us BUT one will need to get a handle on that asap.

Cindy, if you wish to come along and meet the bods on here that would be gold as well.

OK, discuss...

OK Im tempted to move this to the sub forum on getting together but the response has been good here, so will copy and start a new one in that thread.

OK we will be doing (from Adelaide) Perth, Broome, Darwin and then down the middle this time next year. As Alice Springs it dead middle and lots of venues I suggest we meet at the Alice around late August 2017 to mid September 2017. Is Alice too far out or do we have to get closer to the east coast? Help me here guys, after all we are nomads and can move any place we wish. If there are enough starters I will contact the local RSL footy clubs etc so we can stage a dinner or two.

Keep me posted. and stay in contact..
Cheers

I do think it would be better to move to the sub forum , The reason Cindy set it up because post can get lost on the forum if you kept to the sub forum people will know where to look

There is one at Seabird in WA, in September this year. Sufil have put a post up - you are guaranteed a great time!

Seabird W A get together sept 24/26 September 2016

We have decided to do it again.. so much the same as previous gt's. Reasonably self contained. We have water and one external loo  but NO power so solar, battery, torch or genny is the go for your lights. Weather permitting..if it isnt raining!!..campfire/cooking fire if that is your thing. Come for the weekend or longer. Community tea one night..everyone bring a plate preferably with food on it!! We have a kitchen that can be used by all. Bbq. Plenty of crockery/cutlery etc. Kettle is on most of the day and if it isnt by the time it has boiled you will have others joining you!! Bikkie tins will be full.

We are only 70 kms north of Perth so you can park up here and play tourist and for the perthites it is close enough to come for the weekend.

Hope some can make it. Ps it is a long weekend in WA.

Phil, Went to a similar thing last year at Ross River Resort about 90kl from Alice  East Mac Ranges good venue for this type of thing! To me Alice is a great location, but a bit costly for some on a tight budget a reasonably central (except for Sand Gropers) would be Mildura.

A great idea Phil and so is the time of year (August that is) for us at least. It's the only time we get to the mainland. Tell us where and when and we'll be there.

OK, this may not suit everyone but its a start. Alice Springs (venue TBA) Thursday 24th August 2017 to Monday 28th August 2017. I will ring around and see what deals I can broker for tours, dinners etc. We will be going to the rock after that so get your planners out and let me know. It would be a good thing to have numbers well before the event for bookings etc so diarys out folks. See you in Alice

Phil - I reckon Cindy should promote you from Guru like she did with Jules and Dougwe and call you THE HOST.

It will be your job to organize get togethers in every major town and city that you arrive in.

Reckon you would be a perfect organizer and host (c'mon Phil - just kidding - or maybe not - reckon you'd be a natural at it)

Ta Bruce, I was, at one stage of my life, a director of drama at a secondary school. Took a lot of organizing and blood sweat and sometimes tears. I guess this sort of thing does come as part of my nature, being slightly OCD it is natural to make sure all is in place and proper.

Cheers for that mate, safe travels.

The wife and i would be very interested, as we were planning a trip up to the Kimberly's via Darwin next year at this time.
We would be coming through with a Ranger and a twenty foot caravan set up with free camping device's,and a generator,
but would be willing to stop in a caravan park if necessary.
