We have just purchased an Avan Ovation M7 slide out and wondered if anyone can help with info about fitting a motorcycle carrier to the tow hitch. The bike weighs 213 kg and I have looked at some online carriers but not sure if the tow hitch can carry the weight
Be very careful.
The chassis of many of these vehicles is not strong enough to carry that weight out the back.
The length of the motorcycle is included in the max 60% of wheel base overhang, so it may not be legal.
The extra weight on the rear axle may overload the axle rating.
The weight transfer off the front axle may compromise the steering.
In short, there are serious structural and legal implications.
Hi, If You put Your helmet in the pannier that's a quarter of a tonne that You are dumping onto the A frame!!!! If You put it on the rear bar that's still serious weight.
I think that you will have to tow a trailer to put the bike on . Failing this "maybe" a lighter bike ( ~100 -120 Kgs -eg. Yamaha TW 200 ). You have also got to take into consideration the weight of the carrier - as well as the bike .
I have been thru this scenario and carry either a 80 Kg or a 100 Kg on the rear of our 21 ft Fifth Wheeler. I could carry a 125Kg bike if needed .

You won't put any bike hitch onto an Avan. I/we looked at one years ago and the chassis is far too light.
We have a Sunliner on a MB 516 5 tonne chassis and have a HitchMate hitch and a Suzuki Burgman 250. Took me nearly 12 months to find the correct chassis combination to suit.
