Good one Goldfinger - we recently spent a week at Darling Harbour and it sure ain't Australia anymore! The bridge is as magnificent as ever and the ferries are just as popular as then, but it's 'spot the Aussie" I'm afraid. We were pleasantly surprised that we saw no police presence or security - everyone is so well behaved.
My Mum like thousands of others walked the Bridge when it opened. It still takes your breath away.

Thanks for the link Goldfinger. Being a Sydneysider I'm a sucker for any video about the Bridge; the two half-arches were joined on my mother's 15th birthday, she walked across it when it was opened, I did the walk on its 50th anniversary and my nephew was born on its 48th birthday. Reminds me that it's been quite a while since I've been up close and personal with 'The Coathanger' as, from where I was living, it was easier to take the tunnel to cross the Harbour on my rare forays to the north side. Must do the walk to the top of the arch next time I'm there.

Goldfinger, what an amazing video, how did you find it? Thanks for sharing.

What a huge feat and glad they had the foresight to include so many traffic lanes, probably not enough for today's traffic but considering the difference in traffic volume since the bridge construction well done.

They got lucky with the number of traffic lanes. There was only six to start with but when trams were abolished in the early 60s they gained another two lanes on the eastern side.
